Recipes: 1 Rep Power: 50 | I was reading the comments on youtube pertaining to this video: And some posters were arguing over the which way of doing pullups/chinups was better, either this guys limited ROM vs full ROM. This comment sparked my interest the most: "THAT right there is exactly how pullups should be done! 1) Think time under tension. If he were to do them with "correct" form, he would gas out earlier, wich would reduce the amount of adaptive stress. 2) By removing the part where the biceps are activated the most, he is not limited by the endurance of his biceps. So he can Prolong the time under tension for the lats/rhomboids, wich for him, its ovious its the target muscle in the first place. See the movement of his scapula, he is getting FULL RANGE OF MOTION for that joint(which seems to be the idea). So no, its not full ROM.......FOR THE ELBOW JOINT! No one has to leave the "correct" form of pullups, but adding a set or two of pullups like this will surely help in "back development". You will see you can go longer and heavier, because you have decreased the involvement of the "weak link" in the chain (biceps). Try it sometime just for kicks, who knows you might like it. Do notice he doesnt kick his legs up." Is all that true? I always thought the initial pull was your biceps working and the lats FINISHED the pull.
