I usually can do 15 conventional pull-ups, only could bang out 5 of these! Definitely felt much more comfortable to me. Yep guys, i've turned to "the dark side" hehe. -Shruggin

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | My dip/pull-up tower at home has a pull-up bar shaped like bicycle handles, so there's no bar to get in the way of your head. It's the perfect medium.

I've been doing btn pullups and chins all along. I think once you develop the shoulder flexibility, you won't feel any strain on them. Despite what the research says, they are much more effective at hitting my lats than pullups and chins to the front. Yeah, I had to drop the weight too, but can now do sets of 6 with 60lbs strapped on... so keep at 'em ![]() | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Yep, i'm gonna keep at these. It's just weird...I went from doing pull ups with 40 pounds strapped on to doing btn pull ups bodyweight for a couple of reps...lol. I do feel that they hit the lats better tho. -Shruggin

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 124 | I'd like to be able to do em - but I tore my left rotator cuff about 3 years ago and it's been screwed up ever since. I trained back yesterday and it was fine, until I started a set of BTN pulldowns after 5 sets of pullups. Two reps, and my cuff started to feel real tight and painful. Wide hammer grip pulldowns caused no pain whatsoever though.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 89 | BTN pullups are great, but are no supstitute for regular pullups. The work the muscle in different ways and are both effective exercises. I would still do both. By the way, if you havent tried this already, do it: HAMMER GRIP PULLUPS ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Yep, I also do hammer grip pull-ups all the time. In answer to datruob, BTN (behind the neck) pull-ups are basically just regular pull ups, but instead of pulling your chest to the bar, you pull your head under the bar. I'm fully aware that my description prolly sucks, so here. http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/excer...%20theneck.htm -Shruggin

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Whats up guys, I notice quite a few people from the "old" hangout. Anyways, BTN chins are great... however, right now my favorite lat exercise has to be my hammer grip chins. |
