Default Home Gyms

Hi Guys & Gals....

Im looking at setting up a home gym in my basement, and Im looking at getting one of these all in one gyms that include the smith machine in it..I was wondering if anyone has one of these, or knows of a good brand? I have found a few that Im interested in, but seeing as I can only view a few pictures of it, Im not sure to as the quality or how well it performs.

Here are a few links to ones Im looking at....anyone have any comments?

1.) Pioneer BFC SmithMaster Multi-Station Gym FREE SHIPPING

2.) Caribou III Multi Gym (Complete) w/ Smith Machine & Cable Cross

3.) GOLD'S GYM GR 7000 PRO SERIES HOME GYM - GGBE6974

If anyone has any other sites or info, Id GREATLY appreciate it.
Thanks in advance...

get the first one. The other two are junk. The first one seems to have actual free-weight accessories which you can use.

That is the one I really had my eye on. I was secretly hoping someone would say on of the cheaper ones were sweet, but I had a feeling they were garbage.

Thanks for the input dood.

You or anyone else have any other sites or know of any others that are good?

Do you already have a squat rack and free weights? That and a set of DB's is my home gym (though I don't have enough 45's to do my whole workout there -- unless I use kids... but they don't weigh equal amounts and they move around too much...)

Personally I don't like those kind of all in ones. Part of it is that I'm so tall al ot of them simply won't adjust to fit me well. I'd like to have cables at home though, but I just substitute CG bench and do OK. And for $2500 bucks you could get a nice squat rack, a barbell and some dbs.. Just a thought.

Well workouts through required equipment can be done at home itself. home exercise can be done with more precision.

x2 - I've looked into the all in ones and couldn't see them working for me. I'm not huge but I am taller and there's always something that just doesn't work out right.

I'm slowly amassing a free-weight based gym and agree that you can invest the $2500 more wisely. A good rack can be outfitted with either a plate stack or a free-weight stack for most cable exercises including lat pull down, upright rows, seated rows, etc.
Several racks come with smith options, too.

It would be sweet to have a set of cable crossovers at home. (Christmas is coming... hint, hint... )

The best home gym would be...
~quality bench with ability to decline and incline
~set of dumbbells
~barbell with set of weights
~squat rack or smyth rack

The best thing about getting one of those all-in-one machines is that you won't need help if you get stuck, it saves space, and cables keep tension throughout the movements. The bad things are the limited exercises and a limited of range of motion.

i think all you need to get strong is a barbell, weight, maybe a bench + workout partner.
