Question Cutting Help?

Hey guys and gals I have not posted in quite sometime but am still lurking around in the background. I have been bulking all winter and it is time to cut. I should be doing a little of both but I just like lifting heavy so I keep doing it. Anyway could someone throw me a good cutting schedule? I searched around some but I must be doing it wrong because I am not coming up with much. I would love to see a nice cardio/lifting mix to kick the summer off right. Heavy, I can do… cutting… not so much. I get bored and find myself lifting heavy again. Thanx to anyone who lends a hand on this….

Cutting is less about how you train and more about how you eat. Obviously you'll need to throw in cardio to your regimen to help burn extra kcals and increase your basal metabolic rate, but your diet is going to be 90% of your success here.

It sounds like you might be due for a change in your training anyway...if you switch over to high volume from training heavy for an extended period you will grow like crazy.

Even if I'm trying to trim a little fat, I love training in the 3-6 rep range.... which I still consider heavy training. It's all about how you eat... I can get away with no cardio and proper diet. People would hate me if I revealed how much cardio I actually did for the '07 IMPC

Regardless... what's your current routine like? frequency.... volume.... cardio... etc.

Yeah and I know diet is most important. What I am really looking for is what you guys do when you decide to change up your workout to lean out a bit along with the change in your diet. Before this week I hit every body part 2 times a week and live in the 8-10 rep zone stacking the weight light to heavy for 3 sets each movement. This week I kicked that up to 15 reps and put the movements into super sets. Also I am trying to run a mile before the workouts to get the blood moving at a cardio pace. I have lowered the weight and increased the rhythm of the movement but keeping to form. Form is a sticky point with me. Anyway, you guys have any workout routine ideas you can share?

When I'm dieting down I prefer to train heavy, like in the 4-8 rep range. I spend less time in the gym this way and help stave off muscle catabolism, but at the same time I'm stimulating my muscles nicely.

I like to do anywhere from 3-20 reps on a cut, whatever I feel like!

Cardio after lifting is more effective than before though, and I wouldn't run a mile, do some HIIT, except after leg day so you don't get injured.

Ok good stuff. So I can understand it, why cardio after lifting?

Something that has worked great for me, and it also takes away some of the bordom. Is take very little time between sets, this keeps your heart rate up, and for me seems to really amp up my metabolism.

I have noticed many pro Bodybuilders do this. When it's time to cut their rest in between sets is usualy the time it takes thier lifting partner to crank out their set. I take 45 seconds to one minute between sets when cutting.

But like others have said, diet is king while cutting.

For me cardio is riding a mountain bike.. I switch up between HIIT, and medium intensity.

bump to intensity on a cut.

also, cardio, IMO is worthless for the first couple months. It will only burn muscle (yes fat too, but at what cost?). Just use diet... then maybe when you get into the single digits... think about cardio.
