Default Arm Wrestling


Hey guys,

So one of my friends and I decided to have an arm wrestling match on July 1st since he said he was not ready to go up against me. Honestly, I think that he could probably take me right now since he is a bigger guy. So... what exercises should I do to get my strength up and ready for the match? I already do the basics: Squat, Deadlift, Benchpress, etc. What can i add? I am thinking reverse curls, bb curls, and wrist curls. Anything wrong with that or anything unique I can add? Thanks.

Arm wrestling is all about wrist and forearm strength. Work on exercises that will allow you to curl your hand upward with greater force. Be careful though arm wrestling can easily lead to long term injuries that will ruin your training.

Big muscles don't always mean a good arm wrestler. It is very skill specific. Your best bet would be to train your internal rotators with movements specific to arm wrestling. Lay on your side and use a dumbell to mimic the arm wresling movement. Also add to your programs some grip exercises that involve squeezing so you can crush his hand like a tin can. Other than that, stick to the basics. If you can find someone strong to practice with, that would really help!

Thanks alot guys for the fast replies . I will definately find somewhere to learn how to arm wrestle. I'll start with alot of gripwork and such. And DF don't worry, I won't be taking up arm wrestling as a sport or anything... I just want the money and bragging rights . Oh yea, the bet is 50 bucks... small but worth it, lol.

Before you can do your match you gotta watch "Over the top" Its a necessity.

No it's more like the Rocky of arm wrestling. Pumping Iron was more like a documentry, this is more like the underdog overcomes all odds to win stuff.
