Talking SouthCaliDiva's 'Fighting The Mid-Life Fat Cell' Journal

I'm baaaaaaacccccckkkkkkk!!

My original journal went AWOL recently. Not so bad really. Fresh starts can be very motivating.

I received my Melting Point today from uHockey, so tomorrow I will put the Farenheit on hold and begin the test.

My workout plan is working well for my timeframe and work schedule, so I'm not going to change it. Basically it is: M-Back/Bis, Tu-Chest/Tris, Fr-Legs/Delts; Tu-Th-Sa is cardio and abs, Sunday is totally off. No more twice-a-day cardio. It was ragging me out and I still wasn't showing any different results. I don't foresee it as being maintainable as a lifestyle.

I can't remember who recommended the John Lee book (re: meno symptoms) to me {cdn or mrsc???}, but I read it last week and basically it described me to a T. Thanks so much. I didn't bother with the progesterone testing.* I just went ahead and started using the cream 7 days off and the remainder of the month on.

My goal is 140# at around 20% bodyfat. I'm trying to strike a balance between getting as lean as possible, but also being able to maintain it and still live like a relatively "normal" person.

I'll post before pics when I get home tonight.

Let the games begin! :dumbells:

{TMI ahead!!!}
* I feel I can get away with this because I had a hysterectomy in '95. I've heard from multiple sources that even though my ovaries remained, they would stop functioning in a few years anyways, so I'm confident that low progesterone is the main source of my symptoms as outlined in the book.

Given your experience with that do you think it was a good idea? I know someone who is debating the same procedure now. (you're welcome to respond in PM if you like).

Thanks.

I have absolutely no regrets. I had fibroid tumors. The kind that were already dead inside and causing lots of pain. Many sources will say that a hysterectomy is not justified by fibroids, but in my case I felt it was. I will try to be succinct as to why I felt that way. (And I was damn lucky to find a doctor who agreed, because many doctors wouldn't have done it due to fear of liability. But women's reproductive rights are another thread! )

{personal on}
1. I was already 31 with no prospect of marriage.
2. I had never wanted children and still didn't at that time.
3. I would have been unable to continue using birth control pills because the tumors were "estrogen fed". (see #2)
4. Was already showing some pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. (Cancer had already hit my Mom (breast) and later my brother (prostate).)
5. The doc could have tried to only remove the tumors, but after having that done the likelihood of carrying a pregnancy to term would have been slim. So even if I fell and bumped my head and decided I wanted a baby, it was likely I couldn't have one anyway. Besides, there are soooo many kids here already that need someone, when/if that urge hits, I know where to go.
6. Lastly, I started puberty REALLY early. The current theory is that the earlier you start, the later you go. So if I had not had the surgery it was likely that I would have continued bleeding/hurting well into my 50s. At the time the tumors were discovered, I was controlling the pain and excess bleeding with BC pills and ibuprofen (2400mg at a time). So between those two, it was likely I would still end up with cancer or a hole in my stomach to boot.

So, to me it was a no brainer. And the freedom CANNOT be matched.
No more pregnancy fears, lessened cancer fear, and no more paranoia of ruined clothing and death from embarrassment.

The fact that I was already into the bb lifestyle helped IMMENSELY with recovery.
{personal off - SO MUCH FOR SUCCINCT!}

Good Morning Dan.

None really. I keep gaining and losing the same 10 to 15 pounds over and over again. My highest about 3 -4yrs ago was 178# (no pics, don't even ask!).
