Default Sleeping In Increments?

Currently, during the week, I tend to sleep in 4-5 hour chunks and I'm wondering if this really poses a problem.

Here might be a typical day and my sleeping schedule:

5:40am wake up

Go to work, come home, work out.

Usually take a 2-4 hour nap. Eventually go to sleep at around Midnight-12:30 (I really can't/don't want to go to sleep much earlier than that). Repeat process. So I still tend to get my 7-8 hours of sleep a day, just in a funny way. Would this pose any problems? I usually get good sleep on the weekends.

Any info much appreciated. :sleepey:

It can mess up your sleeping pattern.

I don't recommend it, but you have to work around a schedule then you may have to.

lol..that's exactly what I do when I work 5 or 6am shifts. It's not ideal but you do what you can to make it through the day. I think there are a few studies done on this, either that or short sleep periods. I'll see if I can find one when I have some free time.

I know I've read you should just go through 2 REM sleep periods per 24 hours. REM usually lasts ~4 hours, so if you sleep in 2 4 hour bricks, might help.
