Default Resting heart rate of 90?

I just noticed my resting heart rate is 90. I asked my school gym teacher and she said its just normal, but Ive read it should be 40-80...
Is this because i have no good endurance? Im thinking of starting to do 20 min of cardio every off day because i dont want to get a heart attack...

Some information about me that could be helpful to answer the question:
Age 17, Height 5'6,5, 161lbs, I eat 3000-4000 calories and its not always clean foods. I take multivitamins, creatine, whey protein and amino acids. I weight train and go for a long walk (~1 hour) once every 1-2 weeks with some friends.

Mine is 64 as of right now. Im 17. As Khan said, cardio is good for not only bbing but for general overall health.

In-Human is right... there are alot of things that could be causing a high resting heart rate.. the others are right too... cardio will help, with the bodybuilding.. along with your over-all health..

I have a clean bill of health, low cholestrol, excellent BP and I've always had a higher resting HR. I've almost always been around 78bpm. Part of it is just genetics.
