Default Pulled Tendons

So a friend pulled a tendon in her right arm at softball practice today, I'm not sure what caused it, how bad it is, that extent.

Did a quick Google and got nothin' as to healing time and what can help it, anyone got an idea on what the recoup time for an injury like this would be?

forearm, underside.

I showed her a tattoo I plan to get, on the bottom side (non-hairy) and she said that's right where it hurt.

She constantly complains about the pain LOL, but she's dealing with it. Her softball coach told her that's what happened and the athletic director for the school.

Well the injury department is where i have specialized the last few months so il throw my .02 cents in here.

I TORE the tendons in my right ankle. the story goes; i was playing hockey, i got checked and fell to the ice but my right skate caught on the ice and stayed up right. well a teamate came by and checked the kid immediately after and he fell on top of my foot. well my ankle didn't like that and it was probably at a 90 degree angle.

i got x-rays of the ankle and it showed no break in the bones, but if you looked at the bones that connected at the ankle (foot and leg bones) they were misaligned and rubbing up against eachother. well thats not supposed to be.

treatment: 4 weeks hard cast up to knee, 4 weeks soft "walking" cast up to knee.

and let me tell you, its not freakin easy keeping water out of your leg cast when showering. two words: Duct Tape (im hairy on the legs)

so go get it checked out by a doctor, he/she will order x-rays probably (if that possibly if the doc sucks). if the doc is really good and you get the x-rays and it shows nothing, and she is still in pain, the doc should order an MRI.

again, i tore the tendons completely (worst injury EVER), she might think its pulled but it could be worse, a lot worse. and if you dont properly heal a tendon you WILL have problems down the road. it might still even happen with a properly healed one.

Cliff Notes: Go to a good doctor.

How did the injury occur?

Its a big jump to diagnose a "pulled tendon"!

Don't you Yanks ever go to a doctor or anything?

Bump.... pulled or torn tendons are worse than breaks.. and take longer to heal.. especially if it is not treated.. she needs to see a doc.. and not use the arm at ALL... as not to imflame the area anymore than it already is.. from personal experience she is looking at a good 8 weeks to recover.. if not more because she did not go to the doctor...

She seen a physical theripist about it and he said pulled tendon just like the softball coach.

its seeming better now, but it was just from repetitive long-throws for softball without stretching beforehand because she got to practice late.

doing better now, ice for 10 / heat for 10 / sit for 10 and repeat is what she's been doing at night and throughout the day when she can.
