^^ that is also true, but people tend to take in alot more high quantities of drink. Most men drink beer which IMO is probebly the worst next to high volume alc

I don't think either are good for you, but I have to say alcohol is definatly worse than weed. Doing one, or the other to an excess, will certainly have it's negative effects.

I think for a person who goes out once a week, and parties. smoking weed on that night instead of drinking, is probably less harmful.

I never saw anyone die from marijuana use. Seen way too many friends and unfortunately relatives die from alcohol. Shit, it killed my former wife, may she rest in peace.

It can kill someone's drive or initiatives if they don't have a strong one to begin with. It is a great stress reliever and like everything else, you must be in control of it. Now where's my pipe? Just kidding.

See some of the more common myths and misconceptions.

Marijuana, its so exaggerated on both sides. We've got Reefer Madness propaganda on the against side, and people saying marijuana has no bad side effects whatsoever on the "NORML/Drug reform" side.

This seems to sum it up. Erowid has some pro-legalisation stuff, but they do their research, at least.

Erowid Cannabis (Marijuana) Vault : Effects

Quote:
POSITIVE

* mood lift, euphoria
* laughter
* relaxation, stress reduction
* creative, philosophical or deep thinking : ideas flow more easily
* increased appreciation of music. More aware of, deeper connection to music.
* increased awareness of senses. (eating, drinking, smell)
* change in experience of muscle fatigue. Pleasant body feel. Increase in body/mind connection.
* pain relief (headaches, cramps)
* reduced nausea, increased appetite (used medically for this)
* boring tasks or entertainment can become more interesting or funny

NEUTRAL

* general change in consciousness (as with many psychoactives)
* increased appetite, snacky-ness
* slowness (slow driving, talking)
* change in vision such as sharpened colors or lights
* closed-eye visuals (somewhat uncommon)
* tiredness, sleepiness, lethargy
* stimulation, inability to sleep (less common)
* blood shot eyes (more common with certain varieties of cannabis and inexperienced users)
* mouth dryness, sticky-mouth (varies with strain)
* interrupts linear memory. Difficulty following a train of thought.
* cheek, jaw, facial tension / numbness (less commonly reported)
* racing thoughts (especially at high doses)
* increased emotional impact of music
* Time sense altered: cars seem like they are moving too fast, time dilation and compression are common at higher doses

NEGATIVE

* nausea, especially in combination with alcohol, some pharmaceuticals, or other psychoactives
* coughing, asthma, upper respiratory problems
* difficulty with short term memory during effects and during periods of frequent use (Ranganathan M, D'Souza DC, Psychopharmacology, 2006)
* racing heart, agitation, feeling tense
* mild to severe anxiety
* panic attacks in sensitive users or with very high doses (oral use increases risk of getting too much)
* headaches
* dizziness, confusion
* lightheadedness or fainting (in cases of lowered blood pressure)
* paranoid & anxious thoughts more frequent
* possible psychological dependence on cannabis
* clumsiness, loss of coordination at high doses
* can precipitate or exacerbate latent or existing mental disorders

WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS

* mild to moderate, non life-threatening withdrawal symptoms occur after daily use in some users. These may last for 1-6 weeks after cessation of use and can include anxiety, anhedonia (reduced experience of pleasure), headaches, general unease/discomfort, difficulty sleeping, and a desire to smoke pot. Severity of symptoms is related to frequency of use and individual sensitivity.
* slight loss of appetite
* finding non-stoned life a bit dull, increased boredom
In my opinion, all drugs should be legal, but not endorsed or promoted. Less violence because of gangs and distribution for sure. But then again, I'm a nut. And an adolescent nut at that. So if i had to narrow it down, marijuana should be legal, but if you're a bodybuilder, try to avoid it since it a) gives you food cravings, and b) can slow you down, which is bad for people who are psychologically not that active.

I consider it a blessing that I have never liked smoking anything or drinking beer.

I just don't enjoy either.

Default Just something I found

Adverse Effects of Marijuana- December 1, 1999 - American Academy of Family Physicians

Adverse Effects of Marijuana
Could I become chemically dependent on marijuana?

Yes. When you're chemically dependent on marijuana, it means you crave it and you need to take more and more to get the same effect. You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using it. Because marijuana is a lot stronger than it used to be, you're also more likely to abuse it and become dependent on it today than in the past.

Is marijuana use associated with other drug use?

Yes. Usually people use legal drugs like alcohol or cigarettes before they start using marijuana. Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal substance in the United States. It's often the first illegal drug used and sometimes leads to the use of other illegal drugs.

What are the common side effects of marijuana use?

Some of the common side effects of marijuana are:

Trouble remembering things
Sleepiness
Anxiety
Paranoia
Altered time perception
Using marijuana for a long time makes some people lose interest in school, work, relationships and other activities. It may cause legal problems and can be dangerous in certain situations, like driving.

How might marijuana affect me physically?

Some of the common physical effects of marijuana include:

Tremors
Nausea
Headache
Worsening coordination
Breathing problems
Increased appetite
Reduced blood flow to the brain
Changes in the reproductive organs
Like tobacco, marijuana contains many chemicals that can hurt the lungs and cause cancer. One marijuana cigarette can cause more damage to the lungs than many tobacco cigarettes, because marijuana has more tar in it and is usually smoked without filters. Unpleasant side effects from marijuana occur in about 40 to 60 percent of people who use marijuana.

everything in moderation(never heard that before, right?) a few months ago after being sober for close to 3 years, i was burnt out on lifting both physically and mentally so i decided to lite one up and it was exactly what i needed to recharge my battery and get back into lifting.

alcohol is definitely worse than weed. I did both ALOT in college and drinking definitely affected my workouts alot more than smoking.

alcohol takes over a day for its effects to fully leave the body....so if I went out on a Friday night and got polluted chances are I wouldnt be working out on Saturday. I've tried this before and the workouts suck, you get super light headed, and you're weak as a kitten.

weed on the other hand generally "wears off" within 2-3 hours tops for me, and after that I'd be good to go.

Also theres never been a single recorded death from pot. I'm not sure how many poeple die from alcohol poisoning or alcohol related incidents every year but I know its alot.

I'll stop rambling, but you can probably tell which way I voted on that poll.
