HIV Cure potentially found...

Japan has beaten North America again in technology. Looks like this is the most promising thing to ever come in terms of aids research, article can be found here.
I don't know about any of you, but HIV has strongly effected my life and this is incredible news for me, and makes me really happy that the families of those suffering can possibly rejoice in the near future!

That's awsome news! I don't have aids, but aids has been in my thoughts and worries. I hope this is 'it' for all those who suffer from aids and hiv. What a horrible disease.

Well, lets hope not... I mean, to be fair there are still plenty of diseases to contract, or infections, not to mention the whole pregnancy thing. In fact, I never thought of it this way but rape might acutally go up a little if this thing goes through and hits mainstream. But of course for the most part it will be highly benifical. Just wish it could have been developed sooner...

I actually fear herpies more than AIDS.....which is kind of dumb I guess, but it seems like herpies is more rampant in this country.

Anyways I don't care which country figures out a cure.....just as long as someone does.

Interesting stuff. I've always felt that AIDS could be possibly be defeated if scientists could create a particular mutation/cure combination to which they could alter and then predictably steer the everchanging virus in patients towards so that it meets its demise. In a way, viruses are like complicated algorithms because they change frequently in order to prevent "hacking", so to speak. But if you could predict when a particular algorithm or in this case, viral mutation will occur, you could time a response to "hack" into it and defeat it before it mutates again.

Another avenue of research that shows promise lately is that researchers are using a common non-lethal virus to target and kill cancer (and only cancerous) cells while leaving healthy cells untouched. Common virus kills cancer cells.
