Default Dealing with Stress

Stress has a great deal of influence upon our health and body functioning. It has many negative side effects on the body, including premature aging, increasing cortisol, high blood pressure and many other ailments.


We've all had stressful events in our life, what are some ways you have reduced stress and anxiety in your own life (lifestyle changes, prescription medications, etc)?

When I'm feeling overwhelmed I turn off the TV (especially the news channels), put on some smooth jazz or new age music, and do some yoga.

I hear that meditation is supposed to be good also, but I have yet to be able to get my brain to shut up for very long. It's a work in progress.

Yup these are good suggestions, I went to a demo yoga class a couple months ago, it was very relaxing.

Cool The Real World...

When I'm stressed out .. I usually just go shoot a buncha random people.. take their money & cars and then get in another shootout with the police...

Then when I die.. I just reload my game from Grand Theft Auto & do it again.

I don't wanna take all the good answers.. but some other stress relievers include..

Sex.
Hanging out with the fellas in the strip club.
Hanging out with the fellas to play cards in the strip club.
Hanging out with the fellas to play pool in the strip club.

I live a pretty stress free life for the most part...

When I feel too much stress, and with 3 kids under the roof, when don't I feel stress! I grab my IPod and take off walking. It not only gives you time to think the stress out, it makes me feel like I am free again!
Another thing I do when I can't walk is get on the internet and block the surroundings out!!
Though I believe walking is the best stress reliever there is, and the best medication there is isn't in pill form, you just need to relax your mind, and your body will follow.

LoL!! I sympathize with you Brenda.

I just stay away from my DH and kids and I'm stress free for a couple of seconds! LoL

I like listening to music on my ipod as well and 'escape'.

I also enjoy playing an online game called Runescape. :winkthumb *note the 'escape' part!*

If I go with a friend or family on a long drive somewhere I enjoy listening to music and just driving on forever.

When I am stressed.. a ride in the car.. with the music really loud, a walk in the park, playing computer games, lifting weights, just some of the things I do..
