Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 32 | Ok.. thys may sound crazy... but I'm a trucker.. so it'll make sense, hopefully after ya read it... (maybe not) Simple... Lyke most of you, I take supplements... and I read about the absorption of certain supplements that occur in the stomach... whyle some of them are enhanced or buffered (etc, etc) to reach the lower intestines before being absorbed by the body... You guys still with me ryght??? .... Ok... so as a trucker/bodybuilder ... One nyght, after taking some of my supplements, I hadn't gone down the road before I had to urinate... (See, I'm being grown-up) ... and I had the thought... "I wonder if any of the vitamins or supps that I just took are going to be passed thru my urine before they're absorbed by my body... Would it benefit me to hold it??" Thus, lacking any understanding of biology... (I know how the muscles work and function, but not the organs..) .... I'm curious, if the cells lining the bladder also absorb nutrients or do the contents just sit there lyke in a ziploc bag waiting to be discharged... The reason I dare pose thys question.. is because being absorbed by the intestinal tract is mentioned by some supplements and considered to be important... the intestinal tract is the last stop before waste is discharged from the body... so it may be possible for the bladder's cells to act in the same way.... especially for water-soluble vitamins/supplements... Does thys make any sense?? Would you be giving your body more time to absorb supplements, etc.. by not urinating after taking supplements.. or is it completely processed when it hits the bladder...??? (I guess that's the long question, short?) Peace..~G I Drive, I Think .... But Not Simultaneously!!

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 309 | As far as I know what makes it to the bladder is considered waste to the body so the bladder in not equiped to further absorb nutrients. The kidneys are the last stop, it's their job to decide what to keep and what to throw out. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | lmao GDD, what an awesome thought I'm with DF on this one... the bladder is just a waste pouch as far as I'm concerned. I'll send an email to my old anatomy teacher and see what he says. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | OK, I got a response from my anatomy teacher (20+ year experience as MD)... our suspcions have been confirmed ![]() "Hey Davtown, bladder pondering, hmmm. Just like mom would always say, don't hold your pee pee too long. Bladder is only a container as far as nutrients are concerned. Good chance that most of what gets to the bladder (afetr leaving kidney) is the waste/break-down by-product of the vitamin. Most vitamin nutrients are going to get significantly metabolized in the liver, before being delivered to kidney for disposal. So they are already trash-material before bladder gets to slosh it around. Any bio-active vitamin-like substance that makes it to the kidney in a useful form would be absorbed in kidney, if your kidney decided you could still use it. Glad to hear you're still thinking about what's going on inside. DrBen" |

| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | hahaha... good thinking though GDD, I was interested in the verdict... I would say if it could absorb good stuff from the urine, it would also absorb the bad... and you wouldn't want that.
