Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | You can change the focus of a lot of back exercises from width building to thickness building by varying your grip. Taking a wide grip on an exercise such as bent over rows is going to work more on width than taking a medium or narrow grip. The same is true for T-Bar rows or any rowing movement, for that matter. If you are able to take a wide grip on the exercise, you are going to build width, if you take a medium or narrow grip, you are going to be working more of the middle portion of your back and will be focusing more on building depth. Almost any exercise can be varied to focus on different areas of the target muscle by changing either the width of your grip, or the degree of elevation of the exercise. - EME
