Default Right side significantly larger than Left

Alright, I searched the forums but I found nothing. I'm a teenager and have been casually working out for about 6 months. I'm not quite as serious as most of you guys on here. I don't have a regular schedule, I don't really watch my diet, and I'm not necessarily hitting the gym everyday. However, I am seeing results. My max on the bench has gone up about 45 pounds since I started lifting, and my biceps are larger as well.

My problem is that the right side of my body is noticably bigger than my left side. My biceps mainly. My dad said something to me one night at the dinner table while I was wearing a tank top. People at school have also told me that my right arm is bigger than my left. I first noticed it when I started lifting. When curling dumbells I can usually do at least a few more reps with my right arm.

Not only is this annoying, it's starting to become embarressing. Within the next few months when school starts to slow down I will start lifting much more seriously. I don't want to continue to make this problem worse than it already is. Any advice would help guys.

Thanks.

also, if you can curl more with your right arm, then limit your right arm work to what your left arm can do. Example, do dumbbell curls with your left arm only, and then match the reps with your right arm, even if you can keep going with your right arm. Your left arm will eventually have to catch up.

we all have muscle imbalances but to combat it i would use dumbells instead of barbell's for a while. also try to use the lagging bodypart as much as the other side during the lift (metal focus) - like during squats, curls, or bench press.

Exactly what I was going to say. I've been fighting this problem for a while, and once I made the switch from barbells to dumbells, there's been instant progress in my left side. You really just need to focus on what each side of your body is doing while you're training, and adjust weights if necessary.

Since you play lacrosse, is your strong side your right?

Because all the cradling you do on the right might have something to do with it.

Its a matter of symmetry, heredity I would believe. Most people have smaller left sides than right sides though, not uncommon at all. If you want to size up, just start using the left side a little more than the right to stimulate some growth.

next time you feel like rubbin one out, use your left and use some peanut butter instead of lotion.
