Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | I just started getting serious into weight lifting at the beginning of the year. I am currently 15 years old and weight about 110 lbs. I can curl 40 lbs and bench press 75 lbs. Wondering if I should take protein or what to help me bulk up more while weight lifting? |

15 is the perfect age to get started and your already putting up respectable numbers for your age and weight so you should do well if you put you heart in it. Protein is a must, without it you can't create new muscle. You need about 1.5 grams of it per pound of bodyweight daily to really grow. So try to get at least 165grams a day spaced out around 6 meals and you'll be off to the races. ![]() | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Yes I try to look at the stuff like in the school cafeteria and decide which has the most protein. I usually end up going with some meat sandwich and 2 cartons of milk. 2 slices of meat on a sandwich is about 30g of protein and the milk cartons are 8g of protein a peice. I am seeking out the best kind of protein to buy though. |

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | best, cheapest is whey. I would go to a vitaminworld or vitaminshoppe or GNC or a local gym that sells protien and price out Optimum Nutritions whey protien powder. and all I can say besides that is: EAT! often, a lot and well and you'll do great. I know I wish I started lifting when I was your age. You made a good choice brother! Welcome to the Iron Game.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 46 | Nice work getting started! Don't be too hasty and just aim to gain WEIGHT though. Make sure you are putting on quality MUSCLE. I know people are gonna say "but he's only 110lbs. MOP" but you still gotta do cardio and check out how you are looking in the mirror. When I started out (not that long ago) I just aimed to put on as much weight as I possibly could, and ya know where that got me? It got me on the road to unhappiness. Nice job deciding to start lifting and join the forums. ![]() MOP
