How do I gain weight?

The basic thing people neglect when gaining weight is actually what to do. The main part of gaining weight if calories, if you eat more then you burn you will simply gain weight over a period of time. Remember gains don't come in 1 day, the first 2-3 weeks of a new diet you will sprout up nice. But the main thing to focus with is diet, and training. Supplements are pretty much useless other then the simple basics already discussed in this article. When bulking the best thing to do is get enough rest and train at a very high intensity. Don't train light, train hard and heavy.

Ectomorph Information:
The Secret:
1. Diet
Eat a lot, your metabolism's take care of most of the calories, so don't worry about getting fat. The better your Diet is, the better your gains will be.

2. Training
Ectomorph's have certain Training techniques to work around there body type. Working out with heavy weights, low rep ranges and a base split, you should be set. That's not the techniques for the Ecto's though. Ask me if you need them, otherwise search for them.

3. Rest
Your muscles grow when your resting. Your muscle fibers get torn down and then your Diet kicks in to feed nutrition to help recover the muscles. Then a rest day and your muscles are ready and bigger for the next workout.

4. Supplements
Supplements are last on the minds of an Ectomorph. Simple whey, vitamins, antioxidants, and efa'sare all you need. Don't waste your money on weight gainer supplements. They're just a bunch on shit thrown together ina powder form. Get more healthy sources from yoru Diet and not from Supplements.

The extreme ectomorph's first objective is gaining weight, preferably in the form of quality muscle mass. He will not have the strength and endurance for marathon training sessions, will find that muscle mass develops very slowly, and will often have to force himself to eat enough to ensure continued growth. Therefore, for the ectomorph I recommend:

1. Include plenty of power moves that builds maximum mass. Your program should tend toward heavy weight weight and low reps(in the 6- to 8-rep range after proper warm-up).
2. Learn to train intensly and make every set count. That way you can keep your workouts relatively short and still make substancial gains (perhaps 14 to 16 per major body part rather than 16 to 20). Make sure to get enough rest between sets and give yourself enough time to recuperate between workouts.
3. Pay careful attention to nutrition; take in more calories then you are accustomed to, and if necessary, use weight-gain and protein drinks to supplement your food intake.
4. Remember, you are trying to turn food energy into mass, so be careful not to burn up too much energy with excessive amounts of other activities such as aerobics, running, swimming, and other sports. Some cardio exercise is both desirable and necessary for good health, but anyone who spends hours a day expending large amounts of physical energy outside the gym will have a lot more trouble building muscle while in the gym.
