Default Gaining

here's my current status...
Age: 17
Weight: 130
Hight: 5'7
Yes, I'm a small guy, and have been small throughout my life. Now I want to gain some weight and add muscles. I dont really have any weights, just 25 pounds arm lift weight. I want to add more weight and meat on my upper body, I have nothing on but bones. I've started to eat more than i usually eat. I have no knowledge of food and what should I eat. I cannot gain wieght, I have high metabolism... Some people say that I should eat pasta, penut butter and jelly sandwiches and such. I eat pretty much what average people eat, some homade food like pork, chicken and fast food resturants like McDonalds, Taco Bell and such. I really need your help with the food situation. the other thing is I have no weights, but for a start, I started do pull-ups, sit-up, and push-ups.

Please help me...

I feel your pain, but I only weighed 125 at 6'1". I've gained nearly 20 pounds since December, and I've basically just been eating everything in sight. I've been sticking to about 6 meals a day, and I don't really count calories. I'm sure I get more than enough. I try to avoid sugar for the most part, the only sugar I really get is a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream after dinner. Eat plenty of tuna and chicken, and drink lots of water. It's not a bad idea to start with bodyweight exercises like situps and pushups, that's where I started. Even now, I'll do pushups when I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

I have school an such, so I dont reallly find the time to eat 6 meals a day

I dont usually eat breakfast, I dont know why...often times, I eat a snack during class, then lunch usually get a cheeseburger, pizza or any of that junking crap, then after school sometimes i make a sanwich or a bag of chips, then dinner, I just eat what my parents make

Edit: o and recently, I have been drinking Milk more than usual...sometimes I wake up around 1-4 o'clock in the morning, and drink a glass of milk, then go back to bed. is that ok?

You really need to make time for breakfast, it's super helpful to get in a few eggs before you leave for school. To fit in more meals per day, take some light food to school with you. I usually keep a few hardboiled eggs or packets of tuna on me so I always have something to eat when i get hungry. Hardboiled eggs and Tony Chachere's seasoning is a staple of my diet. I would skip the cheeseburgers and pizza, because there's a lot of more healthy food you could be eating. Try peanut butter sandwiches or toasted bagels with peanut butter for a good snack.

Dairy is great for you, it's a good source of casein. Eat plenty of cheese and milk if you feel like it.

Nutrition is going to be 95% of anything you want to do. For me, diet is the hardest part of body building, lifting is the fun stuff.

Breakfast is very important.
Eat something about every 3 hours. They don't all have to be full meals (when you can, go for it, but everybody has some time restraints on their schedule). If you're short on time just have a small snack... not a bag of candy, something like a handful of almonds + an apple. Something to hold you over until you can get a nice meal in.
Peanut butter, pasta, brown rice, lean meats, olive oil, oats, beans, FRUITS AND VEGGIES, those are all great choices.

From what you said in your first post, you're probably not getting as many calories as you think you are in a day, which is why you're not gaining weight. Check out FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal - it's free and a very easy way to track calories. You may be surprised at how little you are eating.

Get access to weights as soon as you can... the sooner the better. Don't neglect your lower body either.

Keep reading these forums and keep asking questions. The knowledge and lifestyle change doesn't come over night, but the more you read and the more you ask, the more you will learn. It takes time, but in a few months you will look back at this post and realize how much you have learned. Stick with it.

Check out this thread on what foods to eat

http://www.ironmass.com/nutrition/14...cery-list.html

There are several great lists of foods in that thread. My contribution is the last post in the thread.

Great advice. And if you can't get access to weights, don't completely give up on exercise. Keep on doing pushups, pullups and situps whenever you have the time.

Thanks Davtown and Chaos. I will get started on the fitday.com tomorrow, and see how much calories I'm getting. I will try to get up earlier and eat breakfast and eat healthier food, and get the food Davtown stated.
I found a website, that I can use milk gallons and put water or sand, or w/e as my weight lifting. I will post up more questions I have and keep you guys updated. but first, I'm gonna look around the forums.

I completely forgot about the milkjug trick. That's definitely a good idea. If you outgrow sand filled milkjugs and you still don't have weights, fill them up with Quikrete I guess lol.

haha yea, thats what i was thinking...my dad knows a guy that owns a gym. So I'm gonna ask him what the cost is, with discounts of course :P. But I dont know, I rather workout in my room privately, although dont have that money to buy weights. I'm gonna look around for the weight cost, and see what I can do. What kind of weights should i get, my price range is around $200.

For now, I would say dumbells > barbells especially if you want to work out in your room. You can actually do a lot with $200, I have something similar to this ( APEX CAGE SYSTEM ) but I managed to get a full set of weights with it for free.

I lucked out, because my dad was a bodybuilder and my neighbour is a trainer. But if you can find other people to help you with your goals, you've got it made.

According to fitday.com, I conserved around 3308 cal. not counting supper...I'm on to that right now, this morning I had a good breakfast (scrambled eggs, biscuit with gravy, toast, and a glass of milk) then during class I had a pb and j sandwich, and lunch I had Salad, and during my 3 class period I had another pb and j. And after school I had 2 sandwiches of ham and cheese. Now I'm working on Supper. So far How am i doing?

and by the way, how much calories should I take in? I learned that a average teen must take in around 3000 cal?

I'm just gonna buy the weights, and have my dad help me out...he's a firefighter and hits the gym practically every morning when he can

You should probably be eating more, but today was a great start. Never skip meals, eat whenever you can. I'm taking in about 4200 Cal/day before my protein shake, which is another 660 Cal.

After my supper, I consumed around approximately 4308 cal. I gotta say this feels good, I was never hungry. This is Awsome haha

here my weight plan..
Bench w/ dumbell bar - $50
weights for dumbells - $40
Barbells - $20-$30 or stick with milk jugs for a little bit...

Do I wait till I get use to my diet then take the supplements? or is it you have to eat when taking the supplements? or is it when you take the supplements before you workout? I probably wont buy the supplements till Summer, thats when I will time to get serious and get money.

A good weight gainer (the one I use) is GNC's Pro Performance Mass XXX. 660 Cal, 66g protein. Not too much sugar, and the chocolate doesn't taste too bad.
