Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | hey so my parents decided to get a scale that measures weight along with body fat percentages. the typical barefeet scale with "electrodes" run thought to measure lean and fat body mass. I was very interested as to what my % was since I have packed on a little more muscle. The results were: Weight 178.6lbs %BF: 18% ---WTF? I would have assumed much less. Im guessing/hoping the stupid scale is reading high. I dont know where I could have 32 lbs of pure fat hidden ![]() --What would the ideal body fat percentage be for someone to be decently cut and have ab definition? 8-10%? *my advatar is my back (obviously) but ill try to get a couple pics of to help you guys help me out. |

| IMPC Contestant | My scale reads 20% everytime I step on it, yet I have visible abs. I wouldn't trust them, and honestly, who cares what that thing says. It's what you think about yourself that matters (unless you are obviously obese, as this could cause health problems, and you certainly don't look obese lol)

To the original poster: Forget about numbers unless you are using them to keep track of progress. Judge things by how you look.

| Nublarsaurusrex | all those things do is compare a height to weight ratio, even the "electrode" ones u get at gnc or wutever. waste of time and money.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | yea i was planning on using it to help perfect my bulk and my cut. with the ability to know exactly the range i want to stay him and so forth. would this measurment still be relativley accurate? say i want to bulk more and the scale reads 20% after bulk would i have gained about 2% body fat or is it all relative to the height/weight? thanks |

| Nublarsaurusrex | it will just be relative to the height/weight, IMHO the mirror is your best bet.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | I stepped on a Tanita Bodyfat scale the week the picture below was taken, and it said that I was 15% LOL I had been tested three times that week with calipers at about 5%, so the Tanita scale was off by 300% Bioelectrical impedance just isn't an accurate method of measurement for people with lean physiques and/or significant muscle. Don't sweat it bro. ![]() - EME

My scale costed 15 dollars at WalMart, so I doubt it's awfully accurate at anything ![]()
