Default Anyone here eat soy stuff????

hey how many of you eat soy products.. me and my g/f have really gotten into eating. the soy chicken patties. soy burgers. soy beef subsitutes. i really like this stuff. the only "meat" i have eaten is chicken.. for awhile. just seeing who else like this stuff. im gradually working to an all veggie diet. no vegan or anything just little or no meat. which im doing now actually.

if you're cutting out meat than soy is the next best option... but to be honest there is no full replacement in a diet for real meat. there is nothing pound for pound that will give you the nutritional profile of a chicken breast or piece of steak.

I'm also a little wary of soy because of some of the research in the last couple years saying it actually decreases test levels. whether thats right or not, I dont know, research like that always goes back and forth. something to think about though.

Which is why it's touted as a preferred protein for women.

Well, you can't really avoid soy unless you eat all home prepared meals. Soy protein is a cheap substitute supp companies like to throw into their products to "up the protein" without upping the production costs (decreasing actually due to a lower volume of quality proteins/serving). I'm not bashing soy... like everyone else said, the research is mixed at best, and many unprocessed soy products have great nutritional value. Regardless, the fact remains, the amino acid profile in soy is far inferior to that seen in animal products.

No next time you go to the grocery store look at the ingredients in some of that soy stuff in frozen food. I don't think the chemicals they put in it to make it taste like meat is any good for you.
