Default When did all you guys started lifting seriously??

Here is my D.O.W (Date of Weight-lifting)

22/11/04

Started at 16 years of age

Benchpress - 5kg (This was a starter to see how everything felt)
Squats - 10kg
Push-up - 15 reps

They are very very low weight, but this was my first session and i did not want to rush into things.

Everyone post yours if you know when it was and what you first lifted

Then when I get serious a few months after that with a bench and everything, my bench was 70x10

Almost 3 years ago, when I started lifting.

16 years old, 6' 165lbs.

Bench was something like 135lbs, or 40lbs on DB press.
Squat was something like 200lbs for 5 reps, but with horrible form.
And I didn't deadlift until probably a year later.

13 years old, in my basement, with the guy who rented our upstairs apartment.

Benching about 80 pounds and curling 10's ... I was one ripped mofo .

Eating a wanna-be Atkins diet because I thought it worked ... oh god I was ignorant in the beginning

I started lifting without much break 5 years ago at 5'10" @ 135lbs. After learning the proper techniques I was benching 95lbs for 8 reps to failure. 15lb dumbell curls for reps.

I started going with a bunch of friends which was really good. They had older brothers who had shown them a few things so from the very start I was doing lat pulldowns, rows, leg presses, hack squats. So although I wasn't deadlifting and doing real squats, I didn't end up doing the chest/biceps thing. Although I guarantee you they got the most.

Problem was I didn't start eating right until 14 months ago. My (LBM) gains on a terrible sugar+fat diet were very poor. If I only knew then what I know now, hey?

I have only lifted seriously for 1 year out of 9. That year I trained all year. I have always taken summer off or had surguries that prevented me from doing a whole year of training. I have now been hitting it since Feb06 hard. Guess why, oh ya I had to recover from a impinged shoulder 1st.

It sort of depressed me when I look at how big I would be if I never had time off but then again I started a career and have a fun life too. Size is not everthing but if you can do it and have a normal fun successful life do it.

I started in H.S. and have never quit.

I graduated in 1982 so you do the math.

For a lot of you guys, I've been lifting for many more years than you've even been alive.

After many years of rehab through gymnastics and Martial Arts I decided to try the sport of Bodybuilding and here I am today.
