![]() OK, so I started this site to bring a GOOD community to bodybuilding and ensure it's survival as the best site on the 'Net. I love what it's become, why else am I doing this? ... ain't about the money, ain't about being known as the owner, whatever -- I'm doing what I can do to make this site the best for everyone, which is my reasoning for bringing this up. I'm ... overwhealmed! by the responses in this thread. I want people to speak their mind and they have! Being honest, and don't worry about saying something wrong. I know there's flaws in the site and I want to address them! Quote:
) that the moderators take the time out of their day to bring a POSITIVE attitute to the site, respect the members, and try to HELP members to the best of their ability to ensure that they're being heard, that what they do is very much appreciated around here, and that they're here for the PEOPLE. I brought Mods on board to show what a upstanding member looks like, someone who does a great job at what they do to bring the best they can to the community. I hope every member can do that. Now onto other issues ... #1 - Server going down. YES! We've become a larger site since the beginning, higher traffic means that more server resources are used. Just like your home computer, if you're doing 10 different things at once -- it'll be a little slow right? Well, I'm adressing this issue with our hosting company and I'm going to upgrade the server from our "shared" hosting (more than one website on a server, so LOTS of sites are begging for the resources -- and IronMass is taking more than it's fair share). I'll be moving to either dedicated, or semi-dedicated hosting so the server will be better suited for delivering what IronMass has. #2 - Newbies. This is our big issue, since the beginning we've been "invite only". Most of you didn't find this site through web searches, links on boards, someone said "Hey So-and-So, I know a pretty neat site - check it out!". We're battling every site on the Net that has bodybuilding info, ones that have been around for 10 years or ones that have been around for 10 days, we're all fighting for the same spot in search engine results. IronMass might be on page 9-10 of Google when you search for "bodybuilding" when Bodybuilding.com is #1. They've been around since the dawn of time, we can't beat it so we've always invited members and spread the word of IronMass. #3 and 4 - More specific forums .. Yes, we've got a LOT of forums, most are independant supplement sections though. Stores, companys, supplement logs and such. Yeah, we're your typical barnyard bodybuilding site. I'll tie this in with the main site, WE'RE WORKING ON IT! The last website we had didn't really fit the bill and wasn't being used, so I'm working with the programmer and we'll get heavily involved to bring the main website up to par and be tied in with the forums. MEMBERS will be able to submit articles, pictures, about anything you want to that fits our categories. Spreadsheets for training, training workout sheets to print, you name it and we'll find a way to get it up. Also, our store will be directly tied in -- buying something from the store will bring you up to Donator/Supporter status. #5 - "The Clique" ... most of the people here know each other from other sites, and tend to "cluster" if that's the best word? Pretend you move to a new school, town, whatever and know 5 people before you get there. They'll be your first ring of social-ness right? Once you break the ice, you get to know other people and keep making new freinds. That's how I see it here! Everyone knows someone and someone knows everyone, don't be shy! We don't bite, everyone's a vital respected part of the commmunity, I apologize for saying it in the most pessimistic way possible, everyone's the same! Everyone's someone in the community, and deserves the respect they need to feel welcomed. I love the turnout of our Introductions forum. Coming to a site, and being able to introduce yourself without trying to make someone of yourself without first making a fool in posts around the site is a real turn-off. But coming here, saying "Hey! I'm a new guy, so please forgive me!" and having 10 people welcome you with open arms and telling you not to worry that noone bites is a great way to set the atmosphere. #6 - Leniancy (SP) ... we're here to have fun too, mods and everyone. What makes someone do something if there's no fun involved? Keeping a professional and informative atmosphere, without degratory comments and thousands of off-topic posts is what we're doing best. To make it more fun, drop me a PM and let me know what's on your mind to do to give a little more thrill to the site! Keeps things interesting, the drama is always fun but gets to be too much at other places and we're trying to keep that away from IronMass, I hope you understand that. #7 - Speciailized info ... want a forum on a specific style of training? Let me know and I might put 'ya in charge of it. Keep it reasonable, maybe I'll put together a "Specialized Training" section. Whatever you want we could put in it; HIT, DC, Squats 'n Milk, HST, WSBB, whatever! If you think you can bring that specific forum up, do a great job doing so, I can probally designate you to that section and give you a little prestige around the site with a designation similar to a Moderator. We want these sorts of thigns to set us apart from everyone else ... speak your mind! Send me a PM, and I'll see if I can get it done. Keep them coming, I'll work on these issues here (seem to fit the majority of everything). If I've missed anything, flame me and tell me to do my job better! ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 26 | Thanks Sholiz..one thing to add regarding #3&4.........I don't think that having MANY forums is a bad thing. If one person doesn't like having to scroll down to view THEIR forum, then too bad! The more we can offer to the public, with good info, the better for the site and the better for the public! :bigthumbu |

| Going Pro BBer in '08-'09 | I think having lots of forums is a great thing. That way, when it grows, which it is, you won't have to search through endless pages of the "lifting" forum that covers every style, exercises, splits, rest and more. Sub-forums are good also. ![]() Actually I think I'mma invite a few peeps to have a gander about here. ![]()

I agree that a little drama is needed to keep things exiting, but you don't want it all over the site..... |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | I was impressed with this site since I first came over. I like the layout and hte monitoring. However, the reason I don't spend as much time here is just due to the lack of new threads and new information to use and respond to. I will try and check in more frequnetly as more people start utilizing IM more |

Besides, if we're "putting the class into building mass", then we need to stay on the high road. Speaking of, did all you suckas buy a shirt? | |
