Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | For me there is something about this high I get that I can not live without. When I go to the gym I feel like there is nothing else in the world, only me and some heavy ass weights. I push myself as hard as I can until I just can't do it anymore, always moving towards bigger goals... bigger lifts, more reps. The power I feel when I hit a PR is fantastic. I feel complete when I am lifting weights. My life has purpose (to move heavy ass weight) and excitement (the challenge of doing it). Maybe I can't put it into words. But there's something about pushing myself to an extreme that makes me feel like I've accomplished something positive and productive. Obviously being bigger than most other guys is a perk, but that's not what keeps me going back. That intense high I get from lifting, grunting, pushing and pulling.... that is why I go back again and again. Man versus steel. It's like getting back to the roots of my very genes, fighting for survival.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | I lift for two reasons: 1. The good feeling you get when you lift something heavier than what you ever throught you could... Just a few months ago the weights I do now seemed miiilleeessss too heavy. 2. Hopefully one day I wont be a fat**** ;P

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | I love Skelooth’s answer above. Mine is very close so I would just add that for me it keeps me mentally healthy as well. I have a short attention span and that is probably one of the reasons why I am not huge right now. When I lift I give it 110% and I leave it all at the gym 5 days a week. But when I stop and I am not working out, I notice that I am irritable, bored, and I get into trouble with the wife more often (I have been told in the middle of a fight “GO TO THE GYM!”). I have done this enough to see the pattern and have decided that working out keeps me in check everywhere else in life too. It is funny how this one thing can change my whole outlook on life, but it does and it’s real. Maybe it is a chemical imbalance that I am naturally medicating through intense physical exertion. If that is true then what a great problem to have. Finally a condition where the treatment has nothing but good side effects. |
