Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 116 | I was snooping around the basement of my townhome complex where I live, and behold, in the deepest darkest part of the cellar, i found a bench, weider brand olympic bar and matching plates (4X45s, 2X35s, 2X10s 2X5s). The bench even has a high pully connection for lat work! It is in okay shape (the barbell is in great shape). So besides the simple rant of excitment that I will be taking it off the hands of the landlord (it hasn't been touched for over 5 years), I need to know how to best clean the rust of the equipment. At last, I'll be able to train at home, with bands!

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 62 | Sand off as much of the loose rust as possible, if you have a Dremel or other rotary tool, you could use a grinding wheel attachment. Then spray paint the whole deal with Rustoleum... several good coats. You'll be set. I know someone who did this and it worked great.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | Actually I just repainted all my old York Olympic plates and solid dumbbells with Rustoleum flat black and they look as good as new. Good luck with your find of old iron. |
