Default Pwrlifting vs. BBing: Which one did you choose and why?

Just for some good "discussion" Why did you pick Powerlifting or BBing?


For me i've always loved to lift heavy and have responded best to heavy weight. I always wanted to be the small guy that was super strong and when i first started out i always told myself that if i cant' get big then damnit i will get strong.

I didn't thynk I could be big either... until I nailed the diet ryght... (15 years after the day I fyrst touched a weight!!!) ...

Of course I want to be bigger than all the humans... & I'd rather LOOK strong than be thee strongest... ... Powerlyfters do look lyke they get to party and have less strict diets tho... Well, except for Mariusz ... don't make me mangle the man's name) ... He's pretty solid for a powerlyfter..

He's pretty solid with a littl ehelp from a friend in the bottle. I like powerlifting type routines because I respond well to them. The bodybuilding routines are good as a mix up, but I love a westside template, I have seen more progress in terms of growth, vascularity, and strength than ever before

Well, I was obsessed with powerlifting for a while. But I have a 75 or so inch reach and I am only 5'8 (68 inches), I have incredibly long arms, and couldn't get my bench up to where I needed to get it. So I went to the darkside and doing bbing type lifting. I like it a lot,but I still go heavy when I can.

I always wanted to be strong and big. Since strength came a little easier then size I focused on gaining size and have never switched since I haven't reached my physical goals. Now that I'm older I'm less concerned with being the strongest guy around and more about looking like I am.

Although I am neither (truely) a bodybuilder or powerlifter (too small hahahha) I chose bodybuilding because I want to look big. No one comes up to you on the beach and goes "Wow, you have some big arms! How much can you bicep curl?" They just say "Wow". I use bodybuilding more as a confidence booster to me (being a former fat-body). I am still incredibly shy in real life, but I'm gettin there dangit!!

If I want something heavy lifted..I will use a fork lift..This way when I go to the beach I still look good!! Hey PL's keep in mind I have a 500lb dead at 190 with a 32 inch mid section

I did some amatuer PLing when I was younger. I still like the big lifts, but my emphasis is now on bodybuilding. I want to get into great shape and then try to keep it for as long as I can.

I chose bodybuilding cause I'm more into it for health, enjoyment and to help other activities in my life. I think pl would be too difficult on my joints and I don't want to risk having some negative influences on my life when I get old. I think a lot of pl carry more bf than is heart healthy. All in all, its about health and happiness for me and I enjoy feeling and looking good!

Hey im not tryin to cause n e drama...I do give the pl's respect. I do not train for powerlifting I train for bbing. If I trained for pl I am sure I would have a great DL. I was just stating that I BB. I know there are pl's out there that weigh like 140 that can dead more than 500 u know more POWER to them. (no pun intended!). No need to get your squat suites in a bunch guys

When I first got into weight training I went in the bodybuilding direction as I wanted big muscles. Until last week when I found out I was playing fullback next season I was a "bodybuilder." Now I'm more into powerlifting as I would to gain some strength for next year and football in college.

I like powerlifting because:

1) big strength gains
2) makes my legs big
3) makes my back big
4) makes my chest big

hmm, I think that about covers it. Who says you have to get fat. Use a bodybuilding diet and a powerlifting routine. :bigthumbu

EDIT: oh yes, and it works great is you aren't too susceptible to fat gain and/or follow a good diet (lots of calories, just keep it clean)
