Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | Hey all, Today I realised this month marks my 12th month of a healthier lifestyle (I can't remember exactly when I decided to start living healthier, but I know it was mid-late August, so now's as good a time to review as any). It was about now (1 year ago) when I decided that I would no longer let myself be a "victim" of my weight + fitness problem. So, naturally, I did what every uneducated fat person does to lose weight. I ate an apple a day and as much water as I wanted for about 2months, played basketball with my brother, and lost weight. After two months of a rediculous diet and training program, I started going to the gym to lift some weight with a couple of friends. They were active, fit, and into sports. Everything I wasn't. Funnily I wasn't much weaker than them on the majority on exercises, and was actually stronger with anything involving my back. This motivated me to grow strong, fitter, and just generally physically superior to the two fo them. I started eating properly(ish), wasn't eating as much as I should have been, but I did up the food. Started eating three times a day etc. A couple of months after that I decided I'd start getting really interested in my training at the gym. Going three times a week I formed a routine using bodybuilding.com. I also started to do some research in how I should eat, though I wasn't following what I read just yet. Soon enough I did, with the help of AFreeRadical I got a diet that was pretty much a decent bodybuilding-type diet. These last 6months (now more recently with the help of EME's wise wise words) have been my most productive. Not necissarily the time I've lost the most weight, but when I've gained the most in the gym, when I've been able to run, and play sports the hardest. Great stuff. That's the story, and here's what I've achieved. Before: - Weight ~130kg or ~285lb. - Didn't play any sports (team or individually) - Couldn't run for longer than 5minutes at a laughable pace - Depressed about my physical appearance (even if I tried not to let on to others). After: - Weight 87.6kg or 193.1lb - 3-4x stronger over my entire body - I play Indoor Soccer, Outdoor Soccer, Running, Basketball, Bike Riding (road) - Completed a marathon - Competed in a 100km (62miles) hike in 22hrs for charity - I run ~5km (2.3miles) every night in about 20minutes. - Happier with my body and my efforts (probably the biggest reward) I ain't no bodybuilding god, I wont ever be competing, nor would it look like I should. But it's been great. If only someone told me how fun it'd be to lose some weight. Good year.
