Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | Well the ones at my gym charge 30GBP/hr...which is hmm around 50USD. If you go private you can make a LOT of money. If you are qualified to give nutritional advice as well, then its even better... I looked into it a while ago to see if it was worth it as a career, the financial rewards seem good, plus u get to spend ur day in the gym, however i think it lacks security: if your tear a pec/bi/etc then you're out of action. |

I am working on my PT certification now. I have not yet worked as a personal trainer in a gym. These are just my observations from watching what goes on in my gym. Hopefully, some of the trainers here will pitch in and give us some of their experiences. *

Thats pretty much starting salary. From there you have many options to move up into managemenet and make a ton more. If you get really good you can make over 100k per year. I recomend getting a BS degree in Kinesiology (exercise physiology) like I am, which will help a ton in your training and also give you something to back up your knowledge. If a client, or any employer for that matter, knows you have a degree, you will almost always make more than someone with out one. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | Well at our gym the gym gets 30% cut and I get 70% we charge 45 bucks an hour. Our gym goes by experience and how long you have been training etc. Without my BS degree I don't think I would be making as much . I am certified in ISSA and ACE and don't plan on getting more. It depends on location also up where 8pack is at is where all the high rollers are at hehe . I do it as side job in my summers off from teaching or coaching. I don't think i would like to do it full time though,

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | I heard from a trainer friend that Crunch Gym is the has the highest pay rate in the city (NYC) and they have different levels that pay differently, but the lowest payrate level is $29.50 an hour when training! I am trying to get my ACE certification now and when I actually have two nickels to rub together I will go for either NASM or NSCA. |

| Pro Stature | I think it really depends on the number of clients you have.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | In my summers off i do have alot of clients I had 15 last summer I was very busy but got tired of it and almost bored with it. If i was training all athletes it would be different, but I train all types. The complaining and lack of motivation by some of these people get to me. No matter how many clients I would have I would still only do it partime.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | The nice thing is at my gym we can charge whatever we want. So I get $50 for an hour and $30 for a half hour. The gym gets a cut of $5-10 depending on how long the session is. It's a nice way to make some extra income. I am the only trainer there that is full time. But I do a lot more than just train clients so I am there a good part of the day. I enjoy it though, so I don't mind working full time. |
