Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | I have to write a paper where i compare and contrast people who exercise vs people who do little or no physical activity. i need to support that people who exercise are far more healthy and that it can have positive mental effects too. if anyone has ideas that would be great. i figured this would be the best place to get some research done seeing as everyone has at least ther own story of how it effects them. thanks.

I see no reason why people who exercise would be healthier than those who don't IMO, diet is everything.

Dude, you may want to rewrite that response. I know, you know, that exercise creates a lot of healthier metabolic processes vesus peeps who are couch potatoes. Let's start off with one of the best and most well known. It lowers bad cholesterol!!! I am utterly shocked and the way you discount exercise for general health. Diet is more important, but exercise is also very important in maintaining a healthy body.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 36 | I get junk spam form all over the place about stuff like this. Most only touch on the basics but give great talking points for 'water cooler' conversation and for the average joe... You might want to check out sites like msn.com's health section, Body For Life, Denise Austin, and google "exercise and health" for a ton of sites, many of which have some kind of connection to a book or products. You can also go to Barnes and Noble or Borders and browse the bookshelf for a ton of books that all seem to have a chapter or intro that will give you quotes/references you can use from these 'experts' in your report/research. You can also check out some of the medical journals (which are probably linked to from that wikipedia entry), and can probably find some statistics from published reports on exercise/aerobics or resistance training, especially if you include terms or phrases such as 'lowers cholesterol' or 'diabetes' and stuff like that. Hope that helps...

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | First, exercise is good because it keeps the body healthy. You don't get sick, you can be more active and life is better. You always feel better and sleep better. Multivitamins supply your body with vitamins and minerals that you may not be getting due to a poor diet. They make the body stronger and healthier.

activity is important, but doing formal exercise is not needed if one carries on an active lifestyle. We never lifted as kids. Instead, we played. Playing (not video games) is what we need to do more of. You know that LDL (which i'm not even sure is that bad) is lowered MUCH more effectively by diet than exercise. The only reason the FDA prescribes exercise is because all the brilliant (being sarcastic) people there know that the diet they prescribe isn't worth a SHIT by itself. Of course you are going to have to exercise if you follow their guidlines (which no one does). Things like leg press, lunges and presses... these are all contrived, inferior, remedies for not being active individuals. This is why lifting weights has become so focused on getting muscular and big. Exercise benefits athletes the most.

| Pro Stature | I didn't read all of the responses so sorry if this was already said.. weight lifting helps prevent osteoperosis, adds lbm which help maintain a healthy weight for a few. cardio though imo has a lot more health benefits compared to lifting as you cannot live without a heart. they'll only help so much though if you eat like shit. |
