Default New Int'l Drug Free BB Org. Formed

The International Drug Free Athletics (IDFA)
Will Promote Drug-Free Competitions World Wide

While the National Physique Committee (NPC) has dominated the sport of amateur bodybuilding in the past, several organizations that test their athletes for illegal muscle enhancing drugs have co-existed with the NPC and are becoming more prominent as the ugly world of steroid use in the sport has become more widely known about and discouraged.

Some of the organizations that test for steroids and other illegal drugs include the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF), the National Gym Association (NGA), International Bodybuilding and Fitness (INBF), Supernatural Bodybuilding and Fitness (SNBF), International Natural Bodybuilding Association (ABA/INBA), the World Natural Sports Organization (WNSO), the Organizations of Champion Bodybuilders (OCB) and the National Physique Association (NPA)

Now a brand new organization has arrived on the scene, the Canadian based IDFA (International Drug Free Athletics), which was started by Shaun Campbell and Desmona Cole. The IDFA will sanction drug free bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitions and will provide an educational platform on the true meaning of drug free or “natural” bodybuilding.

“As competitors ourselves, we know how important it is to ensure a fair playing ground for all drug free athletes,” said Shaun Campbell, the new organization’s President. “Through strict drug testing guidelines and protocols we will ensure all IDFA events have the athlete at heart.”

The IDFA will hold it’s first contest, the Toronto Classic on Saturday, June 3rd at the Glenn Gould Studio, Canadian Broadcasting Center, in Toronto (www.canadian-classic.com).

For more information on the IDFA, visit their web site: www.idfa.ca/

'Ugly world of steroid use' seems a bit harsh, but this seems like a great step in advancing drug free bodybuilding. It can only be a good thing

No offense meant. I have competed in four NPC contests and have won my share of trophies there. But, at the same time, I have seen things happen to good athletes at these contests that I don't care for and that I have never seen in the tested shows in which I have also competed. I am competing in my final NPC contest on Saturday. From now on, I will only compete in tested competitions.

Awesome news on the new organization, and of course, congrats to you again Old Navy on all your hard work and accomplishments!! Natural bodybuilding is really starting to gain more recognition with new organizations forming with strong financial backing and marketing behind them.

I'm definitely excited to see how it develops! :bigthumbu

Default Thank You

You never know how your anti-drug "stance" will be received on a hard core iron site such as this one. I'm gratified and grateful for your support.

I'm on the way to Covington, Kentucky on Friday to stand up against the big boys at the 2006 NPC Northern Kentucky.

I am competing in this contest for three reasons: 1) It was my first bodybuilding competition ever in 2005 and the only one of seven where I failed to Place. (I have some unfinished business to take care of). 2) I use Beverly Supplements exclusively and Beverly is the full sponsor of the event and 3), at my request, this year they are including a Men's Master 60+ Class for the first time. I will compete in that new Class and in the Open Men's Bantam Weight Class. Hopefully, I will bring home one or two trophies from the competition...a nice way to end my NPC career, as I go on to compete only in tested competions.

LOL, I support ALL members in their goals! Just because I Mod the AAS forum does not mean that I frown upon people that don't use AAS. Honestly, I wish that everybody that wants to look big and cut, will take a good hard look at what it is that they want out of bbing and decide what is right/best for them. Koodos to you and your buddy, ON!
