| Pink Members | i have always lifted weights barefoot....it just FEELS right to me and its all i have ever known, but recently a friend of mine has challenged WHY i lift that way and voiced a concern that i might hurt myself doing do. apparantly she has a friend who allegedly dislocated something in her back while lifting barefoot and the doctors said it was BECAUSE she was barefoot.... does anyone know where i could find any medical info on lifting barefoot? i have looked all around but cant seem to find ANYTHING.... personally think its all about form........i wasnt really concerned but im curious as to what you all think and if anyone has anything i can show her to prove lifting barefoot is NOT dangerous. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 41 | its uncomfortable and it does not feel right so i always have to wear something on my feet(wearing boots while squating is still more comfortable than going barefoot)

whenever i lift at my house i lift with bare feet. its always more comfortable for me and i have never heard of any injury from not wearing shoes. im actually trying to find those nike free's because they are suppose to simulate being bare foot, to wear to the gym. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | It's better to lift barefoot because of form. Shoes made for weight lifting are FLAT. Most sneakers have an angle to the arch, which makes it not optimal for squatting.
