Default International News Story about Lifting Gear

ATHENS DAILY REGISTER

UPI: Athens, Greece: A startling archeological discovery by a research team fom the University of Athens may shed some new light on the legends and history of Milo of Crotona. Milo Μίλων), wrestler, several times Olympic champion for around 26 years. He won the boys wrestling in the 60th Olympiad in 540 BC, five-time wrestling champion from the 62nd to the 66th Olympiad, (532 to 516 BC). He wore a lion-skin cloak and carried a club like Hercules, very impressive athlete as he was eating 8 kg meat each day. Legend has it that he even once carried to the Olympic stadium a four-year old bull on his shoulders that he slaughter and devour it. Milo was not only a wrestler but also a musician a poet and a student of Pythagoras the mathematician and Philosopher.

While excavating a plot of ground believed to be the grave of Milo, archeologists un-earthed several lion-skin cloaks and what appeared to be several several lengths of lion-skins. During labratory testing of the skins, forensic analysts discovered that the lion skins were actually a synthetic version of lion skin that was several times stronger than regular lion skins giving them a strong, yet elastic like quality. The cloaks were actually none one cloak, but a three cloaks sewn together into one piece.

Initially scientists were baffled by the discovery and had no plausible theories to explain the purpose of this triple layered support material. One of the graduate students, Isosceles Snuffleupplegus donned the garments and discovered that it greatly aided his ability to lift and carry heavy boxes around the lab. This led the scientists to theorize that Milo has used this cloak as an artificial assistance in lifting and carrying the four-year old bull on his shoulders.

Greek historians are mystified by the discovery and are currently in conference to determine if all Greek myths need to be broken down into equipped and raw legend categories.

lol..is this a real article? Sounds too funny to be true. I don't see how any cloak would help his legs carry a bull.

Yeah, it was a spoof, just something I thought up. But in a related issue, we often hear that steroids and performance enhancement drugs have only been around since the early 1960's or so.....but, think about this, for thousands of years you had armies of men who fought with swords and had to engage in hand to hand combat-so the success of the army depended HEAVILY on the mens' physical performance, strength, stamina, etc. Are you telling me that they did not try to "enchance" their performance by any means necessary, that they did not try to eat herb combinations, or organs from animals that they thought gave them extra strength? Whether it worked or not, the attempt was likely made-or at least that is my theory

what do you all think?

Cool Of Course...

Of course they ate weird thyngs trying to enhance themselves...

The weirdest thyng today is a result of that - Mountain Oysters...

Meanwhyle, I often thynk about the fyrst people to eat thyngs... I mean our ancestors were some sick dudes...

Ancestor #1 - "See that cow over there?? I dare you to suck on that pink thing."

Ancestor #2 - "On just a dare?? No way!!!"

Ancestor #1 - "Ok, I'll bet you 3 pebbles that you won't do it."

Ancestor #2 - "3 pebbles!!! You're on, dude!!!"

moments later...

Ancestor #1 - "Uhm dude, you can stop now.."

Hmm.. I thynk I just discovered that beastiality had a lot to do with the early origins of the human race..

Peace..~G
