I have to agree with Jayhawkk that it seems Skel's problem is more in the mind and less in the body. Real, clinical overtraining is extremely rare. Unless you're working a bodypart multiple times a week and taking every set to failure, overtraining shouldn't be an issue. If your lifts aren't going up, deload.

Most people I know who "take a break from the gym" don't go back until they go "holy shit, I've gotten completely out of shape again".

That's not to say my body doesn't need a break. My knees have been in intense pain lately. It feels like my knee caps are going to pop off. My lower back is also killing me lately. Obviously those two things put together make it difficult to squat so it's not surprisingly it's come down so dramatically. My body is not transitioning nicely to the lifestyle I live at school, which calls for ridiculous amounts of walking and stair climbing, coupled with sitting in desks and computers chairs with bad form all day. Yeah yeah yeah "It's your own fault Patrick, you're being a bitch". Well, stfu, because you're not me, nor do you know my life. Yeah there is an abundance of "personal" information about me on the boards, but I can assure you it is only a very small fraction of the greater whole. Basically, my body just feels like it's falling apart the past few weeks.

I can't say I feel much better physically from not lifting. In fact I think I'm starting to get quite lethargic. The little flame is still burning that makes me want to do some cardio, but I'm going to do my best to wait until I have a) My homework situation under control, b) my income situation undercontrol, and c) my achey back and knees start to feel better.

Dropping a wooden table on the arch of my foot yesterday doesn't really help matters

When I come back to the game, I want to go much more serious on the cardio. I'm thinking of getting a cheap exercise bike for my room at school.

you can get exercise bikes and rowing machines for super cheap.

I still think your PCT is partly to blame for how you're feeling. You gotten that bloodwork done yet or what?

I agree with the time off, but while you're at school, these will NEVER be under control. Once you're all pumped from the gym again you'll find a way to squeeze it in, hectic life or not.

Skel, bro, do whatever it is that you need to do.

I do have a tendency to agree with JayHawkk on a bunch of what he said, but in the end it is your decision and yours alone and no amount of prodding from folks on the dozen bodybuilding sites you frequent is going to change that.

About the only wisdom that I can offer you that is worth a damn is to just try and be happy. It really is an incredibly difficult concept to get, but once you get it and learn it, it really is alot easier than being miserable. In the past 2 or 3 years I've noticed one overriding trend with you and that you are almost always unhappy. You were unhappy and miserable when you were overweight and chicks wouldn't talk to you, you were miserable when you were in shape and wouldn't pursue the girls that showed interest in you, you were miserable and unhappy with your school schedule, your workout schedule, your gains in the gym, your losses in the gym, on the sauce fat gain, off the sauce strength loss, etc... Maybe the problem is that you actually don't know what it is like to be happy, and that you have been unhappy for so long that you don't know any other way to be?

And before you jump on my case about being on antidepressants and any other mental issue of bipolar or manic depressive, I get that point ahead of time. I also know at least a dozen people that have mental 'issues' and are prescribed drugs that only got worse because they then had a crutch that they subconsciously propped themselves up on and as soon as they felt that they weren't having fun it was because of their 'illness'. 3 of those folks quit taking drugs and started working on it on their own and are much better off (ala fairly stable and balanced folks who have a good time). We all have problems, and there are a dozen medications out there for all of them, but the key is to acknowledge what is the problem and mentally conquer it and give it no power to rule you. Work on that, and everything else will fall into place.

You know... I can't mentally cut w/o cutting back on carbs anymore. It's gone from a "Different way of cutting" to .... a mental block towards carbs, lol. All I know is that I saw the best and fastest results of my LIFE the first time I did keto. No drugs, no "extra" cardio. Just.... keto!

Amen, bro. You can't expect life to get any less hectic, ever. My schedule over the last 3 months of contest prep was ridiculous. I don't discuss my personal ordeals and situations, but believe me when I say I can hold my own on the hectic scale with just about anybody. The only thing that got me through it was my drive and motivation. My body and mind were both on the verge of breaking down at various times and I just fought through it.
