Angry I could kill someone. I am never working out at the school gym again.

First off, it's always packed with gotti boyz doing bicept curls with more weight than I can curl properly for 3 reps. Blow outs, sweat pants, nextel, no joke....

I'm frustrated tonight and need to blow of steam, so I go down to the gym and was gonna do shoulders arms and abs. I wanted to start with military press but this kid is at the power rack.

A) He is barbell rowing 95lbs, there is no need to use my mother****in rack of the alpha male +1 against gotti boyz

B) He's not even doing it right.

I ask him, "How many sets you got left?" he replies, "Oh, I'm gonna hack squat after this" so I'm like okay i'll wait it out.

He proceeds to now do a roman deadlift. Apparently he is very confused as to the difference between a deadlift and a squat. After two sets I watch in utter disbelief, as he takes the 35 and 10 off each side, and replaces them.... with.... a....... 45.....

MOTHER****ER I WILL KILL YOU AND EAT YOUR DOG.

Finally he's done. I set up my military press with 115lbs, this is up 20lbs from my normal 5x5. After completing one set, a kid walks up and wants to know if I'm almost done. I'm like "Dude I just started" as I'm imagining myself powercleaning his skinny ass into the ceiling above. So I let him work in. He squats the 115lbs.... His knees were so far past his toes it was making MY knee caps hurt just watching. So I tried to explain how to correct his form as I imagined tearing his face off for wasting my time.

I got M press of 135lbs for 1 rep, for *me* that's pretty good And someone else wanted the rack but he's cool, ie, not a tool, so I let him have the rack after one more set.

Now I go over to the dumbells. It looks like a nursery school the way dumbells are strewn all over the floor. I was able to find a pair of 35s for some side lat raises... only, I couldn't see my form in the mirror, because some meat head with good genetics is standing in the ****ing mirror looking at his abs. He was big, but he was not all that. He's an overgrown ****ing gotti boy. THe mirror is for watching your form, not trying to turn on your lifting buddy. Obviously this kid proceeded to do bicepT curls the rest of the night. No surprise there.

OH, AND THEY PLAY GANGSTA RAP! Yes! What a joy! The work study kids who run the fitness center (and don't know jack shit about lifting) were sitting around playing spades to the tunes of 50 cent. LOUD 50 cent.

I don't think I'm going down there anymore unless I feel I really need to. I'd rather push a workout back a day than go to that ****ing clown act.

Kids doing 1/8 squats, kids doing bicept curlz EVERY night, gangsta rap, kids on cell phones, no one reracks weights.

**** THAT.

I belong to a powerlifting gym 4 blocks away, you know what? It's worth it's price in gold, much less the walk.

I just want to eat someone's pet dog like a rare steak in front of them and tell them their mom is next. ****ing clown act man. Nothing like some angry lifting.

Skel, you never wondered why my biggest complaint is guys doing curls while standing in a rack or on the pads?

Don't be mad. Just explain to them that you need the rack for something necessitating a rack slightly more. You're going to have to get used to it. All college gyms are filled with guys who do nothing but military presses, upright rows and curls.

Skel, you have a lot of drama in your life man...You need to take up yoga and learn some upright facing dogs or something.

man i'm never talking shit about jayhawk EVER. nice lifts bro.

Skel, I feel your pain dude. I guess the gym @ WUStL is a bit different in that we actually have a lot of hard-core guys there who don't tolerate any bullshit. The weights all get put back where they belong, and you don't walk between the mirror and someone doing their set until the weight is on the floor.

That being said, stick with your real gym...bullshit isn't something that you should have to worry about while you're lifting. And if it means you gotta hit the gym on a Saturday, so be it. Your peace of mind and a real workout are worth more than the video games you would be playing on Saturday anyway.

Don't worry I got some good college gym stories.

Theres this kid who I see lifting every time I'm in the gym. He squats 135, benches 135, incline benchs 135 (barely), does some "Accessory" work on machines, and curls in THE only powerack (bad one at that). He claims he is training to be a bodybuilder. He askes me, without even seeing me lift if I'm looking to compete in powerlifting, and I said not for a few years when I'm 198lbs ripped with a 1300 + total, and he says "oh I thought all powerlifters were fat like you."

I coulda dropped the kid for that. I could whoop this kids ass with a 135lb barbell on my back. Tells me I shouldn't squat down so far because its bad for my knees, and tells me I shouldn't be using my legs for push press because I'm not using my shoulder muscles (asked him to tell me which ones, he didnt know) to move the weight up. I had to inform him that you break muscle down more on the negative.

I just can't stand the kid. Him and his little friend. Same weight for everything all the time, and they only do a few big compounds. Never anything else.

Then I got a few "thugs." White guys in a black pimps clothing wear, who think curls and bench press will make them bigger. They spend most of their time using MY powerrack to curl and then in between sets go and talk to either some friend or some "cute" girl (who 9 times outta 11 is f***ing ugly). They all stare at me and my friends because we actually break a squat, lift heavy weights and happen to be BIGGER then they ever will be.

And don't get me started on guys who never train legs because they don't want their legs to get big. Or guy who ONLY use the smith rack.

Smith racks were made for one thing. DC stretching! Case closed!

Funny you should mention this...just tonight when I was doing my leg presses there was a kid on the neighboring smith machine who used it for squats, lunges, shrugs, calf raises, upright rows, bentover rows, and military press. He only did one set of each with like a plate on each side, and when my buddy asked him what program he was doing he goes, "i'm just trying to mix it up and keep my body guessing."

To which I responded, "What, like guessing what the crap you're doing next on that smith machine?" He didn't seem to think it was as funny as we did. :ohsnap:

I get annoyed but I figure the less I spend worrying about those people the more I spend on actually lifting. Get a mp3 player put on whatever music you listen to and blast at the weights.

And why so much hate on the smith machine? Seems like some people really have a hard on for it. Like it owes em money. Most gyms also have a usually unused rack machine. and like you all know bench and curls are always being done. I've been known to bench in he rack machine when all the benches were full...If someone wanted the rack for squats then let them come at a time when it's open. One of the things you deal with in a public gym.
