| FDU Devils Weightlifter | another adventure into the wilderness of Johhny B. Curl Land. I was doing some hardcore squats today, and I couldn't help but overhear Johhny boy talking about how he saw some big dude benching 300 some odd pounds and had his back arched and how that guy was going to hurt his back that way. Now, I normally would have let this go, but the test/adrenaline was pumping and I had to show this kid how it is done. He was trying to convince this other kid that benching is a good exercise to build the pecs. I explained to him, that bb bench press hits more of the triceps, shoulders and lats and rear delts, while also using the pecs, but not putting enough load on them to really work them hard enough. He said he "fixed" that by putting his feet up on the bench and making it harder for him to move the weight. Now, I showed him correct form, explaining each purpose (ie tightening of your legs and core and lats) and he wouldn't relent on it. I eventually got fed up and told him if you really want to build your small ass chest, do some DB incline bench. Then I proceeded to squat 315 using that anger from talking to such a moron. He always doesn't believe in going heavier then 15lbs for DB curls. "strict form" will build them. ok stick arms, whatever you say.

All day long, people wonder why i sit down at the bottom of my squat, deadlift with my feet so wide apart, and use such a close grip on bench. It's just the way it is. We were all there. And Hey, I even did a set of curls today. 1X3 on each side with 40lbs dumbells. It happens.
