Default How to convince my parents to let me join a new gym.

Right now, there's about a week left in my membership for my current gym. To renew it's $35 a month. There's another gym that's $50 a month and it is a lot cleaner and so much bigger. The $35 a month has 1 shower (dirty) and rusty equipment and it's really beat down. the $50 a month has 2 steam rooms, about 30 showers, and is multi-level with lots of other free things like cycling, boxing, and yoga. But it's more of a fitness center but they have a free weight room with mutiple power racks and squat racks so that's good enough.:nosthumbs

I really want to go to the one for $50 a month and at the end of the year it's around $150-$200 more but definately worth it.

But the thing is, my dad said $600-$700 for a gym is too expensive but I have nowhere else to workout. What do you guys think I should do?

I agree with your dad. $15 a month more is a big difference. If you really want to go to the more expensive gym than agree to pay the difference.

I never thought of that. I guess I can pay for the $15-$25 difference, I'll talk to him about it and see how it goes.

As a parent, here is what I want to hear!!!!!

" I would like to do extra jobs around the house to make your guys life more pleasureable, I could wash window, clean the garage, mow the yard and whatever you need help with to make up for the extra money it costs for the gym. " You know mom and dad........Health is very important and when I get old I dont want to live on drugs because that new medicare thing really sucks!!!!! Maybe you could come with me on a tour and you can see where your money is going???? I would love to show you! And Dad maybe you might want to work out with me and bond a little bit, you know guy stuff

Lol, I'll try that. I said to my parents I'll pay for the difference and they said it's not whose paying for it, it just that it expensive in general.

I'll keep trying though.:nosthumbs

Do you have a job?? I worked at a grocery store in High School on the weekends only becasue of football and track and I brought in $200-240 a month net. That was 8 years ago.

Hell check in with your local school , some let alumni lift for free when the students are not working out.

I'm too young for a job. And they lock the school gym, so i can't lift after school.

You are never too young to have a job. Exactly how old are you? My sister has had a job since 12 and I have since 14 (actual jobs too).

I'm 14. I'm too young to work at a store by the register. But this weekend, I'm going to stop by resturants and see if I can be a busboy a something.

Should be decent pay though. Work there for a few months and you'll have enough money to pay all the dues, buy some great supplements, and still have cash left over for PS3.

That's the great thing about being 14, no bills!

Haha no crap. What money I do make selling coins/notes is used toward car repairs, bills, and books. I don't think I've made a whole dollar this year that wasn't spent right away toward something other than myself for enjoyment.

Tell your parents its a priority in your life.
Just like they do their stuff and spends tons of money on it(drinking is a good example), this is something you do.

Bro, I started this and my dad didn;t just say no. He said he'll think about it...So I guess it's progress

And for a job, McDonalds won't let me work until I'm 16. I might work at a store moving boxes etc because nowhere in NJ where I live can I work until 16 at register.

Cool...
I really want to join Forum. It's fitness centerish, but I still like it a lot better than MidCity and I've never been to Dolphins but I doubt it's as good as Forum. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm positive that if I refer someone, it's gonna be you getting the benefit, but idk. I have an appointment with one of the main PT's Saturday because I told them I could join, and I still gotta convince my dad.

I remember around November for a year for $400 but that's way gone, lol.
