Can this effect a lab result

If you have to do a 12 hour fast for lab work, if you drink like fruit 20 water or diet soda, with no sugar or anything in it, some sodium in the soda but will that really effect the lab result???? this is for a FBS, thyroid, cholesterol.

If I were you I'd just stick to straight water, it's hard to say for sure if any of those would affect your profile but why risk it? It's only 12 hours.

never take anything when I have to get my lipids done. I take my meds in the morning with just enough water to swallow and that is it. You will have plenty of time to drink and eat whatever you want after the test, so why risk a bad result?
