Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | For anyone serious to lifting I am going to recommend a few books for some that want to learn and become great at what they do some day. Whether your into bodybuilding or power lifting, these books will hep you out. Dr. Mel C Siff Mel passed away on March 19 in 2003, he has helped a lot of people for free. He has put out a lot of great texts that are great for reading. One I will recommend of his is Supertraining the 6th edition 2003. This is more advanced reading, but I recommend it to everyone who can learn something from it. And maybe when your at a more advanced stage re-read it and understand what your reading. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...cid=134&pid=63 It is on sale currently. I ordered this book a while ago from Elite Fitness Systems, it was back ordered and it arrived in 10 days after I ordered the book. EliteFTS is expensive, but shipping makes up for it. Take advantage of these opportunities. For more Siff reading: http://www.dolfzine.com/new_page_6.htm Another good book is Core Performance, this is a basic book on core training. If your an inspired athlete out there looking for a little edge, pick up this book. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...id=134&pid=890 Max Condition is a awesome book for any athlete looking to become more serious in training. The book explains everything you need to becoming stronger and faster. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...d=134&pid=1011 EliteFTS has a few manuals out and many of them are great. For anyone starting into strength training and would like a little bit of help, I suggest you order this manual. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...d=207&pid=1079 If you want to know everything about general physical prepardeness (GPP) then look for EliteFTS's manual on GPP by well known strength coaches. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...d=207&pid=1031 I also will recommend reading a lot of russian texts on training. Pick one you would be interested in and read through them. These are great for anyone wanting to know some secrets of gaining strength. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...lt.asp?cid=222 And for a little off-topic recommendation are the Westside Barbell and EliteFTS videos on bench press and squat-deadlift. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...ult.asp?cid=92 Expensive, but hopefully some will be on sale. There are a lot of texts out there, a lot of them good. Some bad, look around a few places (amazon, local book store, etc) for all sorts of texts and read through them and maybe make a purchase every now and then. You learn a lot from reading. You will learn a lot from under-the-bar experience, but reading through some books can and may help from doing something dangerous during training to cause an injury. And that's how the cookie crumbles... ![]() |

| SEEK & DESTROY | Good topic, Supertraining looks pretty gnarly. I've been getting bored now that school has been on break and thinking of starting a small library of lifting knowledge. I believe I'm starting it with the classic The Encyclopedia Of Modern Bodybuilding.

| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | I got the encylopedia of modern bodybuilding for christmas. Greatest book ever. It has over 250 pages devoted to exercises. It ends up being 800 pages overall. I disagree with some of the principles but it is great. Also shows you how to do exercises and has top quality pictures of all the greats!

Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | I read through the weight training dummies guide and that was some pretty old and bad information. I didn't agree with a lot of what it said and it was mainly for the fitness people. |

There is weight training for dummies, bodybuilding for dummies..etc those sucked... The complete idiots guide to bodybuilding was much better... IMHO

Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | I'll check that one out then. The Arnold encyclopedia was moderate--for it's time it was pretty good. The exercises are good, I wish there was a power lifting book sort of like that. |

Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | Here is some more reading: http://www.dolfzine.com/page2.htm Mel Siff's articles are in there. Don't expect that kind of material in his book. |

The internet only gives you the basic information and that's about it. And to 2R4U, Beyond Brawn is a good book. I would also recommend that to some.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | The Pre-Contest Bible is a very good book for anyone interested in competing in bodybuilding. Some very good insight in there and it definitely helped me improve last year: http://www.mesomorphosis.com/store/b...est-bible.html - EME

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | How about Kelso's Shrug Book? I hear a lot of good comments towards the various and different shrug exercises he promotes in the book. I personally haven't read it...there isn't a single one I can get ahold of. :crazy1: btw, does anyone here like to sell their copy or have an extra or even know a way I can get one without the use of a credit card?

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 6 | Thanks, I checked out the site but unfortunately it only accepts debt cards--i mean credit cards. I have a paypal account and Amazon.com accepts paypal but in order to checkout any books from them you would need to sign up another account which in return would ask for a credit card before you could do any type of buying business. How stupid. Anyways, I'll continue my extensive and wearily search for this book. until then. thanks again. ![]()

| SEEK & DESTROY | Anyone read this? http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...cid=134&pid=65 I was thinking about ordering that and Supertraining. I've been diving into The Encylopedia of Modern Bodybuilding and find it quite interesting.
