Default Best Ways To Blast Through A Plateau

OK. I'm starting this thread to get answers to solving a problem for a friend. Hopefully this is the right spot for the thread. Well my friend is around 5'10" 170 and a fairly high bf%. He is mostly working on his bench numbers right now. They aren't the greastest in the world and I believe it is too early for him to be reaching a plateau. He has been working with low reps and sets. Somewhere around 3 sets of 5. I believe twice a week. For him there is a limit on his equipment and his diet is fair. Any suggestions? I forgot he is stuck at around 130 for 3 reps.

Thumbs up

For me the best way to "blast" through a plateau is to up my caloric intake, a lot. That always works for me.

There are also many training methods that can accomplish the same thing. Supersets is a good example, or the 5x5 rep workout. Perhaps some temporary volume training with a taper at the end for a few weeks would also work well.

Yes. He has been doing very low volume. High weights for him. I'll get his to do the 5x5 rep workout. His diet has not been in check. It has been horrible, he has been eating a lot of pre-made foods. High in sodium and low in protein stuff. He is getting that in check now.

I didnt realize this for the longest time, but BBing is 80% nutrition and 20% lifting (assuming you lift correctly and consistantly). Eat (clean) big to be big.
