So...as some of you know I've been moving all over the place with the company I work for(Thermo Fisher Scientific, madman knows whats up ). I went from St. Louis to Pittsburgh, then up here to Chicago...

I found out Friday that I'm moving to Washington DC to do some work on our government contracts, which is awesome(I'm on the fast track to robusto ) but I don't know anyone in DC and was wondering if there are any members in/around the area that could give me some ideas as to what to make sure I do/don't do when I'm there. Holla!

To make up for the fact that I have to move in less than a week, I got a nice little bonus so I went out and bought myself a watch. I liiiiiike.

Well DF kinda nailed that part lol. Actually I think I'm going to be north/northwest of the city since my work will primarily be at the NIH and NCI.

Gonna be kinda tricky since I don't know how long I'll be working in DC...I know its going to be at least two months but could be permanent. I hear the bass fishing in that neck of the woods is pretty good in the next few months but I don't know that I'll have time to find some water and bother teh fish. Plus if I drop a line in the Potomac who knows what I'll pull out.

I'm from DC... but the last tyme I was home sweet home was in 2004..

Best piece of advice I can give you is not to wear that watch on the Metro...

After that... Make sure you venture to Ben's Chili Bowl on "U St." - It's really U street.. they're in alphabetical order... and get yourself a chili cheese half smoke... and a fat piece of cake..

Then visit any chinese carryout... and try a 10 piece chicken wings with "MOMBO" sauce... You can't get thys sauce outsyde of the DC area... WHY!!! I don't know... but I try to buy 5 gallons of it everytyme I went home...

Let's see.. there's also - Cluck U's - a chicken place on Rhode Island Ave next to the University of Maryland... Oh gawd... talk about some great chicken!!! ... try the thermonuclear sauce (super hot) if you dare...

Aiight.. that's my can't miss list.. especially Ben's Chili Bowl... if you don't eat there whyle u're in DC.. sigh.. it's lyke going to chicago and ordering pizza hut... or going to Philadelphia and getting a Cheesesteak from Subway...

Hopefully I made my point.. & you can go out at nyght... Just stay outta Southeast... (but last I heard, even the infamous Southeast was making a comeback) .. I'd say stick to the Georgetown area... near Georgetown University... nyce selection of bars, clubs and upscale shopping... ...

I guess everythyng else, you can google... Hope I helped...

I figured as much, although I have no intention of riding the metro since my company pays for cabs wherever I need them(its a godsend here in Chicago, round trip to downtown and back is like $150 ). Is DC really that dangerous in general?

Making you hungry? My freakin mouth is watering over here, I love chili. I definitely understand what you're saying about Pizza Hut in Chicago or something similar...I think its a crime for anyone to come here and not eat Lou Malnati's deep dish, its unreal. Thanks for the info, I enjoy teh foodz so I'll definitely be poking around the restaurant scene.

Yep, bass fishing is sweet in the Potomac... Really good fishing in the south branch in west virginia also, about where jayhawkk is from I do believe.
