Default 185 lbs increase on squat possible in one year?

Do you think this is possible while doing 20 rep squats?

Wow, you want to add 185lbs to your 20 rep squat? That would be amazing. I've added about 170 to my close stance squat this year but on the 20 rep no way. Good luck. :nosthumbs

I mean on my one rep max not my 20 rep. I will be doing 20 rep squats to bring up my 1 rep max.

I'd say it very possible to add that to your 1 rep max in a year, but make sure you don't sacrifice good form on squats while trying to reach that goal.

Thanks for your input. What would be the best possible program to get my squat 1RM up? I never really squatted that frequently before but I maxed 315 at 155lbs for football recently. I am a running back and my goal is a 500 lb squat. I couldnt care less about my bench as its useless to a runningback. I just care about my squat.

If your goal is to increase your 1RM I'd suggest starting a "how to increase my 1RM on squats" thread in the powerlifting forum. I've never really been too concerned with my 1RM, but powerlifters would be able to give you some good training tips on how to do so.

That is possible yes. I did it myself this year. Your wondering how well just by doing 4 set's. One 20 rep, one 15 rep, then getting heavy and doing a 6 rep and 3-4 rep set. My squat strength has basically doubled doing this.

Was this just done once a week? Would Max-OT be a good program for mass while boosting my squat?

Feeding the kid what he wants to hear and not what he doesn't want to hear.

It isn't possible to bring it up in ONE year to 185 lbs. Even with powerlifting.

I'm pretty much a newbie. I never really squatted that regularly before.

i dont think its possible

maybe if you were at a lower weight but 315-500 in a year is next to impossible naturally

you might be able to do it but the chances are highly doubtfull

i could see 100-300 or something like that but 315-500....

but here is a great squat program that i know a couple of people had major sucusess with
http://www.joeskopec.com/smolov.html

you also might want to make sure your forms right

Once a week but it wasn't all natural so that makes a difference. Max-OT is OK but I prefer 5x5.

I squat 315 now for a 1RM. Do you think I'm too inexperienced for Smolov? I have been training for almost a year but squatting for maybe 4 months. Would this russian program be better to start with than smolov? http://www.timinvermont.com/fitness/russian.htm
