Question Poll-Like Thread: Current Maxes?

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask, just to get to know the guys on here, what are all of your current maxes in the bench press, squat, and deadlift? Also, if you have any other interesting PR's, mention them .

S.C.

My current DL max is 545 lbs. I wasn't training for a meet or anything, I just started a DL cycle to see what I could get my 1 rep max up to while I was still bodybuilding. I thought it was pretty good for no juice in 15+ years, 40 years old, and 6'2" 230 lbs bw. My goal is a 600 DL by the end of the year. I think it is well within my reach.

That's a great deadlift, good work powerman! . So you train the deadlift specifically? I haven't ever directly trained for it, I usually just work it through my squat days.

I am sure you will be able to reach your goal as it is a very realistic one .

I would only train for a DL specifically if I was going to compete in a meet, which I am planning on doing later this year. There are a couple of upcoming meets in Colorado that are of interest to me. DL and BP only though, since I can no longer squat heavy since my knees have developed too much scar tissue in them. Im not sure if you were joking or not, but bands are large rubber bands that are used to train the lifts in both WSB and JA. It really helps your top strength, since the band tension gets higher the higher you lift the weight. It's sort of like the chain idea.

I wasn't joking.

Nobody trained with bands when I was a competitive PL in the 80's and early 90's. My top strength was never a problem. It was usually somewhere in the middle. That is where I would hit my sticking points. To help with top strength we just performed lockouts in the squat rack.

Anymore the chains and bands are pretty common.

Well... here are some of my numbers...

Bench- 225 @ 145 (raw)
Bench- 250 @ 165 (raw) (I could have gotten a few more pounds I am sure)

Deadlift- 295 x 8 on small rack so I don't have to pick it up from the floor @ 164.

Nothing too impressive, but not too shabby.

Here are mine, although I don't train nearly this heavy on flat bench any more:

365 Bench @ 165 lbs
405 Squat at 165 lbs
455 Deadlift at 165 lbs

Probably one of my favorite PR's was when I walked on the football team at the University of Arkansas. As part of the tryout, we had to pick a weight and bench it for as many reps as we could.

I benched 225 for 21 reps @ ~ 170 lbs.

These days I train with much lighter weights, rarely going over 225 for anything except squats.

I really don't do flat bench much anymore, choosing to concentrate on incline bench instead now. I occasionally go as high as 275 for reps on incline, but usually train with about 225 on incline on a weekly basis.

Nice lifts guys! We've got some strong members here!

Below is a pic of me working out with 315 on bench about 15 years ago!
( Man, how time flies! )
