Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | Sorry if this is answered in a sticky or something, but I never saw the the exact answer I'm looking for. Would it be possible to give me/show me an example of a workout program that a Powerlifter would follow, including exercises, sets, and reps on what days? If you could do that, it would answer all of my questions ![]()

Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | Exercises are different, reps are a little different. A powerlifter would have more volume. Obviously use a lot more weight. Use longer rests between sets. There include max effort and dynamic effort days. Exercises switch every 1-3 weeks. Just read a few articles about the training. I suggest going to the Helpful Links thread and look at Zack's post and look for the Eight Keys Part II article and start reading. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | Most powerlifters focus much more on heavy compound movements and don't spend nearly as much time as bodybuilders on isolation movements. When I was powerlifting, I didn't do a lot of dumbbell kickbacks for Tri's, or Dumbbell rear laterals for shoulders..... I did close grip bench for Tri's and Military Presses or Cleans and Presses for shoulders. I didn't really care what my shoulders or tri's looked like... I just wanted them strong. When I was powerlifting I did many more 7,5,3 rep scheme pyramids instead of sets of 6-10 like I usually do now. I don't do partial reps or negatives now, but I routinely did negatives and lockout sets when I was powerlifting. Both disciplines focus on weight and lifting it... but they are really very different. - EME

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 114 | bump. this thread needs action. - there is much more emphasis on one's "chassy" is PLing. Nothing matters more than strong hams and glutes. Quads are the key in BBing.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | I think, without posting any specific programs, it all boils down to training movements v/s training muslces. Powerlifters and o-lifters train movements, whereas a bodybuilders 'target muscles'. Training movements for strength is powerlifting, whereas training muslces for looks is bodybuilding. A training program will reflect one intention or the other, so will lifting technique. Weightloss carries another difference in intention between bodybuilders and powerlifters. A bodybuilder looses fat to look lean, whereas a powerlifter attempts to improve his/her strength to weight ratio. The differences are subtle, and are directed by the intended outcome that the lifter is shooting for, and the way a lifter measures succes, (by strength increase, or looks).

Recipes: 2 Rep Power: 96 | To sum it in a heart beat. Powerlifters goal: improve bench, squat, and deadlift. Bodybuilding goal: Get bigger, and look better overall. |
