| New Member | Just wondering on how i can get my max bench past my 300 sticking point. should i do sets like 230 until i can get it for 10reps and then move up 5-10lbs and get the for 10 or should i do a weight for 5 or 6 reps and go up 5-10lbs and work my way up? i would appreciate any advice given. |

| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | To increase my bench I do a few different things. #1. I like doing less reps, and doing it with major weight. #2. I incorporate exercises that are similar to bench press that will give me more strength in the area. For instance start trying to get my shoulders stronger by doing more weight. #3. Also doing lockouts by using a lot of weight and just lowering them to almost your sticking point and going up. This should help a lot, ir not. Gain weight =).

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 203 | Since you asked specifically about your sticking point, I would recommend doing some lockouts in the squat rack. Slide a bench into the rack, set the pins where the bar would be equal to your sticking point and then load up the weight. The idea is to go real heavy, which is attainable with the height of the pins set, and then do maybe 3x6 with as much weight as you can. That is what I used to do when I was a comp PLer.
