I think that is a more consistant basis than personality alone. Personality is, well.... much more subjective and is more difficult to define than knowledge alone. Is that along the right lines?

I may be misunderstanding what it should be used for.

Erm, well some people might consider unwanted extra interest and traffic to be good, but I know I certainly wouldn't. For example, I wouldn't call bodybuilding.com's forums to be better than ironmass.com's forums because there is more interest and traffic there. And by that I don't mean to say I think IM is better than bb.com, i'm just using it as an example because it is a much higher traffic place, and just based on its traffic, a lot of it not wanted here at ironmass, I don't think that makes it better. And if we started getting a lot of trolls and stuff here i'd consider that to be a negative, generally I think of unwanted as - well - unwanted.

I just read your message a few times again, now I see what you mean, you misunderstood what I meant by unwanted extra interest and traffic, I didn't mean extra interest and traffic is unwanted, I meant unwanted extra interest and traffic is unwanted, as in extra interest/traffic of trolls, people who only fight and argue about rep points, and that kind of thing. Traffic and stuff is of course good, but not if it isn't coming for a good reason.

Seriously, don't you get tired of seeing the same 12 people active each day? Not taking anything away from those great members, but the rep system at least peaked peoples interest to stay here a little more. With increased traffic comes more drama and trolls, but that is the same at every forum (we have moderators for this reason). BB.com is not the only website to imploy the rep system, and yes it is very successfull at other places. So what if it gives people a reason to stay over here, the point is they are staying over here. Trolls come and trolls are recognized and are gone, simple as that.
