Little things to improve the Forums

I have recently been thinking about how ironmass can improve. Since you have gotten the new site up I would like some changes to the forums. Right now ironmass is kinda of bodybuilding related and misc. related most of the time. It usually seems members never seem to post much on Bodybuilding. Mostly on off topic shit.

The members are ok, but we can improve to getting members who are more informed about bodybuilding, weightlifting etc. We have a few members who registered, but never posted and they were good members.

I suggest bring in more newbies and more informative people to the boards.

I would also like more board background layouts to mix it up. Maybe change the default to something more pleasing instead of boring gray colors.

Get rid of the stupid colored names like pink and shit, if there girls, let them be plain, not colored. Only have sources like bold and red and orange for Mods, donators, and admins. If they are forums sponsorsm make them bold and say sponsor in there user title. It gets to damn confusing as well.

Lets make this site more bodybuilding and experienced related and advertise when we got the money. it would help a deal.

I also agree regarding the coloured names, it's a tad too much. Something like coloured users with the ranking of Admin, Mod and Article Writers would be enough.

I might get flammed on this but I was thinking about this too the other day, A type of rep system would be a good idea for this site since a lot of information is given out on these boards and it would help newbies to the board decide who to listen to - BUT yes, reps don't always work...

Well as far as members this site is growing pretty damn fast compared to alot of sites when they were just starting. It's gonna take some time to get a lot of members. Hell it took bb.com a long time to even get their members built up. I remembered when i joined bb.com a little over two years ago there wasnt but about 35,000 members and id say more than half of the 100,000 members they have now are/were trolls.

Overall though i'm pretty happy with this site.

Maybe some sort of user rating issued by admin/mods? Of course this probably wouldn't be practical once the site really grows..

I disagree guys. Gold and silver members solve the problem of distiguishing knowledgable members. Only the cream of the crop get this distinction. The pink and purple members are all female and they wanted it, most bb sites have trouble attracting and keeping female members so anything we can do to make their stay more enjoyable is a good thing. The only color I feel we could do without is the red donator usernames. They should keep the additional options that come with donating but maybe a more subtle recognition in their user profile might eliminate the color overload.

Well maybe a FAQ section needs to be added. For now I'll break it down for you.
Orange-Webmaster, site design
Bold Blue-Mod or SuperMod
Red-Ironmass donator, contributed money to the site extra perks involved.
Gold-Top notch poster, contributes valuable info. to the site and knows their stuff.
Silver-Same as above but to a slightly lesser degree on the contributions
Light Green-IMPC Contestant
DarkGreen-Supplement company rep or owner
Italic Red-IFBB Pro, superstar bodybuilder
Pink/Purple-female members that request the color

Gold and Silver status members are chosen by the admin and moderator staff based on merit. Hope that helps clear things up.

I disagree with DF for some reason.

With all the colors, the site looks sort of unorganized. We only need Mod, Donator, and be that for the usernames. For Admin, just old is fine with the user title ststed they are the admin and webmaster. Or the chosen one and sholiz can change there usernames to admin and webmaster.

Mods be recognized as bold as well. Donators be red, and IFBB pros get an italic username.

User a reputation system for users to judge who the better members are. No need for Mods and Admin to bug with that shit.

Pink members aren't need, I doubt female users will leave because there names aren't pink.

I wouldn't mind more lifting related topics, but that is really up to individual members to start threads. Most, if not all of my threads have been training related. But I have had very few threads. I have some other stuff planned for later though.

Other than having more lifting related threads, I see no reason why to take the fun out of things... If I wake up tomorrow to a pink username, I may be singing a different song though. :gay: :headshake

One thing I might suggest is having a recomended thread section. Something where you click on a member's name and veiw their most recomended threads. For example, if I really like the 'babe of the day' thread, and maybe some of Wassung's threads, you would have links to those threads when you click on my username and then click on 'recomended threads'.
