Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 668 | Major Security Upgrade vBulletin's default security was quite weak, however i've put some time into it and implemented several security upgrades to deal with various problems ranging in terms of potential destructiveness. It would be unwise and impractical for me to list exactly what I changed or how, but as a note to anyone who is thinking of trying something, just know all major vBulletin exploits won't work here, and to any typical members here you may feel more comfortable knowing that your account is more secure. This especially goes for mods, super mods, ect. Not that they are more important than normal members, but obviously it would be more devestating if a mods password got bruteforced, or what have you. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 668 | Yeah, I am a bit tempted to do that. But at this time I feel that it would be unwise, perhaps after we generate a bit more attention and a bit more traffic I can re-consider, but until then I think I should leave it be. Theres a fine line between when unregistered restrictions turn people away, and when they attract them. I don't think we are at the attraction line yet, but rather in the turning people away zone still (regarding something major like viewing, that is). I think the attachments will just make a few people itch at registering, and as time moves forward and we breach the line and the forum population gets big, I will prevent unregistered users from even viewing, giving them insentive to register. Also, unlike most forums (for what reason I havn't a clue) I will have it so unregistered users can view who's currently on, how many members there are, ect. That way they know that the forum is large, and worth checking out (when it gets bigger, of course). Hope this is a good logical descision, and we'll see how she works for now. Thanks for the input. |
