Characters per post

Why do we have restrictions for how many characters per post?

No, the maximum character restrictions...

Like 10,000 per post or something. Why do we have these?

because there are size limitations to fields in databases. It's more about the design of the database than it is the administration of the website.

Too much information can be put into certain tables in the database, causing the database to crash in itself or take forever to search that specific field when looking for information.
