Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | I was going to post some of these for the April 2007 IMPC, but I can't wait. I have a few of my final pictures from November 2006 for the IMPC and some from yesterday March 24, 2007 when I competed in my first ever live show. I'll do more later. For some reason I am having a difficult time getting them on here.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | I actually didn't do real well. Placed 3rd of 3 in Novice and 5th of 5 in Open. I thought I would be 2nd and 4th, but that is the nature of bodybuilding I guess. I was kind of disappointed, but I came home and looked at my old pictures for a pick me up and I felt 10 times better. It was a great learning experience for me. Next show I need to have more size and sharpen the abs up. Overall it was a great experience and I am glad that I did it. Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | Thank you Madman and Davtown. I am excited about getting started in the IMPC this year. Now that I cut down on the bodyfat I can focus on putting on some size more than being so strict on my diet and calories.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | Thanks. That does make me feel better to hear. Originally, I was planning on doing two or three shows this summer. I might be better off training hard for next year's season and relying on the IMPC to keep me from getting too heavy again. Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | Yes, I did really enjoy it. There was some frustration on my part about my placing, but looking back it is probably fair based upon the size difference. The classes were divided based on height and I was just over 170 and I would guess the two guys in my novice class were pushing 200. I am considering doing a show in mid-July that is by weight class. Currently I am 5' 9 1/2" at about 170, (I know that is tall for a middleweight, but at least I wouldn't be giving up close to 30 pounds). Anyway, I am still debating if I could put on some more size and get lean enough to compete in another 16 weeks. I am considering using some creatine and possibly some other supplements for this next show also. (I haven't used anything besides a multivitamin, meal replacements and flax oil up to this point). One thing is for sure however. I benefitted tremendously from doing the IMPC. Many people mentioned that I had good stage presence. I was quite uncomfortable at first posting my pictures online, but I gradually got used to it and at the contest I felt very comfortable up on stage in my posing trunks. Quote:

Amazing the progress you make without hardly any supps. You must not be taking advantage of your pre and post workout ' window of nutrition ' needs. Creatine and a good whey protein will help you a lot. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 60 | I agree that you shouldn't rush into doing another show. You made a huge improvement in your condition, be happy with that for now, and set your sights on the IMPC. To give you a totally honest critique, your conditioning was probably a bigger factor in your placing than your size. You'll need to come in considerably leaner and drier to take a top spot. In reality, to take a top placing, you're looking at having to drop another 3-4% body fat and you'll need to tweak your final week protocol to drop water. Use the upcoming IMPC as a way to further nail down your conditioning.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | You're probably right, but I have a fear that I won't stay committed to keeping my weight down without the urgency of an approaching contest. I will probably make up my mind in the next month for sure. I appreciate your honesty a great deal as well. Additionally, if there are specifics (and this goes for everyone) let me know. I would like as much constructive criticism as possible. I do also agree, my conditioning needed to be better. I probably would have benefitted from at least another month of dieting to improve my conditioning. However, I do believe I was slightly more lean the guy who finished just before me. (Tough to know for sure unless the judges tell you though). I'm really not sure on my bodyfat percentage. My Tanita bodyfat scale varied between 4-7% in the last few weeks and the digital calipers I bought said about 7-8% although I am certainly not an expert in using them. My guess would probably be about 7-8%, but I certainly would not be suprised if it is actually higher than that. I am looking forward to the IMPC and do actually plan on doing a true contest prep before that this year. Anyway, if you or anyone has any specifics they would suggest I would be grateful. Quote:
