We got new bars at my gym.

They tore up my hands pretty bad.

Ripped off all my calluses.

I hate to say such an arrogant and rude thing however, you cannot get much gheyer in a weight room than gloves.

They may look ghey but if your hands get tore up enough you'll learn when to use them. When I do remember to bring mine I use them on pull ups since our pull up bars are hell on your hands. Our dumbells are smooth grip so no need to wear them on those.

I ripped mine up quite nicely doing shrugs a couple of weeks ago using a new bar. Tore the calluses right off. Since then I've been using gloves on the heaviest sets as the skin is raw there.

I always use the old, worn bar for deads/shrugs etc nowadays- much kinder on the hands.
