Default Post Contest Question

What is the first thing you should do right after a contest? Drink about a gallon of water? Binge out on junk?

A friend of mine went to the hospital because he was too dehyrated after his contest. He said it was because he ate a lot of free samples of protein instead of drinking water.

I've been thinking about my post contest binge everyday!

Just wondering what negative effects would happen if I binged ALL week after the contest.

I would limit it to a cheat day. A week of cheating and you will probably gain a double digit number of fat and water weight. I know I would find it hard to pull out of binge mode if I cheated for an entire week, I'd be risking not being able to stop. I'll have a cheat meal for dinner after the final pics and then a free day on Sunday. Back to a low calorie diet on Monday and gradually increase calories weekly until I'm in bulking mode.

I do expect to be very bloated post contest due to partly the sodium/carb manipulation and the binge after.

I'm planning sort of what you are, post contest binge and the next day no limits. After that, gradually increase calories back to maintenance and bulking stage.

My first show, I competed at 183, then after the show I pigged out, and continued to pig out for three days. On the third day I couldn't get my shoes on, and my face was swollen and I was completely smooth. I weighed myself and the scale said 230, and I was freaked out of my mind, just not enough to stop binging.

My problem was with the sodium depletion I did before the contest, add that depletion with my water depletion and I swelled up with tons of water.

It screwed my mind up bad. After about a week and a half I lost about 10 pounds of bloat, but through the damage in my diet, I ended up fat looking. It took me about a month and a half to get back down to see my abs.

Just limit yourself, and be carefull. If you are done competing for the year, have at it and enter your bulk. But if not, just have a cheat night and get back into the gym.

My cousin competes and his last competition he gained 25 lbs the next day. Keep in mind he is a beast totally ripped at 250lbs. This was mainly fluids that brought back the weight.

I will definately be consuming massive amounts of water no supps besides multi and intend to have some nasty ass white castle cheesburgers. I also will have immodium-AD on hand for the expected squirts.

Wow that is pretty intense that your shoes didn't even fit! What's even more intense is that you kept eating haha

I'm debating continuing my cut past the end of the IMPC. Although it's easy to say that now when I'm full from breakfast. I guess it all depends on how my results are. I'm going to be bulking for about 6 months afterwards anyways, going snowboarding in the mountains this year for reading week in February instead of going to Mexico so no need to be cut up.

I'm going to be trying to estimate maintenance and immediately jump to it when I'm done. I won't be slowly going back up. I will stay at maintenance for about 3 weeks though before I start bulking. When I do cheat after I'm done cutting I'll be counting calories and just easing up on food choices. Keeping my calories at maintenance levels.

If I would of just cheated that night it probably wouldn't of destroyed me. Self control is the key.

Try and ignore the cravings. In fact eat your cheat foods naked in front of the mirror. You'll know when to stop.

Well it's easy to say that but going 18 weeks controlling your cravings and then being asked to control your post contest binge is difficult to say the least.

Yeah, I was going to have an all out festival of cheat foods on the day after, but I think that I will control it to a certain degree. I am not going to pig out on in-between meal junk food, but I will eat whatever I feel like for my 3 meals of the day keeping the amounts reasonable. I think I can do that, I question if I can mentally let go of cutting mode. I'm stuck in it pretty good. I think I will honestly find it difficult to give myself license to go off clean eating without incurring some real feelings of guilt.
